(This post is kind of a repeat for me but I'm so astonished by the observation I'm repeating it here in this new post.)

What is it for me? I am astonished and extremely delighted to be able to look at guys faces. I see lips, nose, eyebrows, eyelashes oh man those eye lashes (on some guys this is a huge turn on) and eyes. With all this I see emotional expression - happy, sad, interest, befuddlement, etc. It's so amazing I can do this now.

Great questions... prior to me accepting I was gay, men in my fantasies we faceless and really only in my mind for sex. Now, I look at guys closer and think he is attractive, I could see myself with him. Also, the thought of just sitting watching tv with another guy and snuggling together is what I've been really yearning for.

The extent to which other people live up (or down) to your expectations. I spent so many years consumed by fear, fear of what people would think, what they'd do. It wasn't unreasonable almost thirty years ago, but in retrospect it was so silly. I was so wrong and it made my life so small...

I've been astonished by how much most people don't care about my sexuality. It really was all in my head.

What delighted me was how quickly after embracing my homosexuality I was able to adjust to a relationship with another man. Many of the barriers I had with intimacy pertaining to women disappeared once I was involved with a man. It is so much easier and enjoyable being in an openly gay relationship. I feel like I have won some kind of contest and keep pinching myself.

I feel empowered to a certain degree and am coming to terms with this part of myself that I tried suppressing all these years...embarrassing to admit, but for the first time in my life I feel like a sexual being...I don’t hate my body anymore

I can relate to so much of this!
Yes! I was surprised that with acceptance, realizing that I am really looking for is romantic love, and realizing that i could easily imagine and feel it about a guy, but I really couldn't about women...

@OGS @I'm gay Thank you this is very inspiring!

For years I denied I was gay. When I was first posting here, someone suggested going to the mirror and just saying "I am gay"... I thought , yeah, ok, I'll try it...
I was amazed by the rush of emotions the feeling joy, of warmth of happiness!

I did the exact same thing. I was amazed at once I did that, I totally accepted I was gay.

I was able to say it out loud to myself on Saturday and it felt so natural not as bad as what I thought it would be

Was it in your head in the form of past shame and fear?

Since coming out to myself as bisexual:

I am delighted to observe how many guys can catch my attention. I used to think it was only a few. And I don’t seem to have a type, although they all seem to be nice guys.

And I’m delighted I can hold eye contact with a guy. At least more often.

I am amazed that a gay friend patted me on my upper body and said I looked good. (He apologized because the look of shock on my face meant he’d gone too far in delivering the complement).

For years I thought I was a 'loner' or just couldn't get close to anyone, and I didn't really have any desire to. Looking back, all my efforts to date women were half-hearted.
I called an LGBT help line last night and he asked me what I wanted ... Right away, the words "a boyfriend' came out of my mouth... The thought of having a boyfriend makes my heart race, and I feel giddy with excitement. Accepting being gay made me realize i was not a 'loner' but lonely! But in a good way- I feel motivated and energized to meet guys and start dating.
I was never even able to imagine myself close to a woman, but I can easily envision myself close to a guy..accepting myself made me realize I DO have the capacity for romantic love and intimacy!

I know exactly what you mean. Alot of times I will be driving in my car, listening to music, and thinking how perfect it would be to have a guy I adore sitting beside me.
I've had 3 significant relationships with women in my lifetime, and all of them seemed to be something I fell into, rather than actively pursued. Looking back I think part of me knew it wasn't what I really wanted, but I made do because I was tired of being alone I suppose

Yes! often women 'pursued' me....or 'fell into' it, I never made an concerted effort...

I used it as a form of denial... but looking back sex was a chore...

It delights me how much I enjoy giving a woman pleasure and astonishes me how much I want my skin to touch hers.

I haven't had sex with a guy yet, but half of my fantasies are about pleasing a guy, in contrast I never fantasied about doing that with a woman and when I did try to please my girlfriends it was a chore...

Somehow I never found sex to be much of a chore, but I know I definitely felt there was a piece missing.
