My dad's in his early 50s and may be retiring soon; that's considered young to do so around here. I can only hope that I can retire in my 40s and spend the rest of my time traveling Europe. But somehow I don't think I have any interest in being a venture capitalist or whatever other jobs people have around here that grant them the ability to retire early...(because there aren't many).

I'm glad I'm not the only one that caught that! I've never ever met someone that retired in their 50s let alone 40s. My mom took an "early" retirement at 60 because her work was down sizing. Heck, I know millionaires that work through their 50s. One of my uncles works for the state and could take early retirement at 55 but he's waiting until 60 to get full benefits.

I know the south a lower cost of living and your dollar goes further but I can't imagine people being able to retire 15-20 years sooner. I don't even know who would want to, my mom has only been fully retired for a year and is already bored.

To answer OPs post 65+ is old to me

The hair forward of my ears is mostly grey, you know it's all over when you start buying mens magazines for thinning hair :icon_sad:

What sort of self respecting gay man allows nature to take it's course? No gay man should ever go grey without a fight... it's just not British. I'm deeply ashamed of both of you.

You become old when you stop having fun or being silly. For example my grandmother who thinks she's too dignified and refined to enjoy herself.

It's literally just one grey hair every other month.. certainly nothing that requires action - yet. I just pull them out when they appear and that's that.

If I do start going grey in the next few years, I'll dye my hair without a second thought. I can accept going grey at some point, but not this early in life. Both my father and grandfather went bald in their 20s though so it doesn't bode well for me. :frowning2:

I think it was on this site actually, someone said that we age not in years and days but with the damage.

The only hair I've been glad to lose was my ginger hair as a toddler

One thing my mum always tells me is that my hair is a lot thicker than my father's was, so I have some consolation at least. No thinning noticeable just yet.. knock on wood.

I really hate it when people in there 20s say there old like wtf? Like when I'm in my 20s I'm still going to call myself young.

I see that a lot, but most of them aren't being serious. They just feel worried because they're no longer the youngest people around anymore.
