What did you used to think

I used to be pretty homophobic. My parents were always accepting, but I learned to be homophobic from my church. I went there on my own (my parents were non-religious). I always stayed away from gay people.

Then my parents to me to an event that a ton of gay people were at. Since I was forced to talk to them, I learned that they are the same as any other person. I also learned that my mom had many gay friends and so did my dad.
