Is this marker a professional? Because frankly they sound like an idiot. Gender neutral is totally fine and you can tell them your buddy Ron, a professional B2B writer said so. :tantrum:

And here's a link you can give them: http://www.skillsyouneed.com/write/gender-neutral-language.html

I'm already basically done with the course, but I will have to save that link if anyone else tries to say gender neutral pronouns aren't "proper".

This explains everything. No further explanation needed.

Hunting for fonts it's such an exhausting and thankless task. This would be so much simpler if the clients of my clients would just package their files before sending them off. I don't get paid enough to do this, literally—I'm charging them less than my usual rate because I botched the negotiation.

    Ugh. Just "ughs" all around.

Yay! One of my high school friends is at least "out" on an online dating site, and I had been really wondering about him in recent years after a mutual friend came out as bi.

I bought this pocket square/handkerchief and it comes on Saturday. I don't know whether I will use it to blow my nose or as a pocket square .

I would do it as a joke if I could trust them to be smart enough to realize this. I do not trust them to not have crap-taste and actually going with it.

But comic sans cure people of their unemploymentness like why else would people submit resumes in comic sans or papyrus. My mom use to work in HR, why did people think it was a good idea to use those fonts on a professional resume is beyond me.

Hopefully you be done with those clients soon, and those clients will learn how to not be assholes with bad taste.

Eh, I wouldn't necessarily call them assholes, just sloppy. Not packaging the fonts with the files was a huge oversight, but at the end of the day you can't get prickly with them for not knowing protocol because... Well, that's most clients for you. It's partly why they hire us, they are completely hopeless in these matters.

If I had a direct line of communication with the designer on the other end I could point out my issues to them and maybe get them to help me help them, but I'm working with a middleman here, and my line of communication begins and ends with her. Her expertise couldn't be further from design, so I wouldn't even know how to explain to her how to request what I require or why it's important. Sometimes clients just don't know better and you have to work around that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ tedious, but it is what it is.

    Precisely! :icon_mrgr

I'm not mad at them, hell, I solved the problem already, but I can't help thinking "You were one click away from saving me hours of work, if only you had clicked 'Package' instead of 'Export' when saving the files..."

This comes with the territory tho. I can only sigh, shake my head and take it in stride lol.

Yeah, I knew the answer would be no but I just had to ask anyways.

I tentatively brought up getting a haircut to one of my parents (my last one was such a long time ago), and the answer was a resounding no. Fine, fine. Like I said, I knew it. I just had to try. But then there was a long (not ill meant, just ill informed) lecture filled with gender role expectations and a bunch of (also not intentionally hurtful, but still pretty damn hurtful) comments in general.

It's so incredibly frustrating. Not to mention that my hair is getting too long for comfort for me and getting harder to hide behind beanies and hoodies too. I'd be in a heck of a lot of trouble if I went out and got a hair cut anyways, so that's a no go. I guess I just have to ride it out for the last few months before I'm moving out (by which time it would've grown a lot longer.) Dang it :bang: This sucks.
