You got lucky. Our defense was being stupid. I had a feeling, too, as soon as he came on, that if anyone was going to score, it would be Long.

I cannot remember the last time I was this pissed at my own country's team. Absolutely atrocious mistake. I wish Neuer had conceded his stupid goal last Sunday when we played against freaking BAYERN. But noooooooo. Honestly, I'm still furious about that match. I'm not mad at Ireland; your team deserved the win, because they actually showed up to play. No, I'm furious because, on a day when all we needed was one freaking point to secure our spot in EURO 2016, our usually world-class defenders decided to fall asleep at the wheel, and shot themselves in the ass.

If we get anything but a win against Georgia, I am going to blow the hell up. Because if the team keeps playing like this, we might as well not even bother showing up in France next year because we won't even make it out of the damn group stage.

Was reading an article on buzzfeed called "Really Important Things Every Black Woman Should Know About Her Edges" and I'm so confused. What are edges? Read the whole article and still didn't know. Also, do I have "natural hair" since I don't do anything to it? :lol:

Edges are essentially the edges of the hairline. It is the most vulnerable part of the hair. Which is why if you hear people joking about how someone "snatched their edges", it is the equivalent of theoretically ripping their hair out by the roots. It shocked them so much that they were left "bald".

Natural hair is a term that is used to describe hair that is common of mixed or Black women. It is called natural hair not because they do not use products, but because it has not been chemically straightened, which is currently the standard women's hair in the west. For instance, Black women are forbidden from wearing most natural hairstyles in the military and government agencies. So the term natural hair and the push for it is a product of their efforts to change the currently stigma and regulations against Black hair.

But get off buzzfeed! Its all clickbait!

Thanks, Gen! I guess all I knew about edges was if I wanted the back rounded or squared and how the haircutter "cleaned" stray hairs from the front of my face. I didn't know the edges on the front were so vulnerable. Good to know.

I am aware of the stigma "black hair" gets. I will admit that anything other than straightened hair or short "natural" hair looks unprofessional to me, maybe because the only time I've ever seen it in elevated corporate positions is in either HR/ "token" diversity officer positions.

I do remember an experience in middle school where I smelled the hair of a guy with natural hair (we were in line for something and I guess we were relatively close) and it smelled like, I kid you not, mayonnaise, and I thought "natural hair" equaled "dirty hair." It's funny the things that stick to you.

At least I got some stuff done over the weekend. That's a bit of weight off my back.

 

I got the last insurance check from my parents' deaths yesterday. It's surprising to me how disturbing the actual checks are to me. On the one hand I know that my parents would love the fact that they are going to help pay for our honeymoon and help us pay down our mortgage, but part of me really doesn't even want to deposit the checks. The money will be a big help, but it will be the last time they help. Lots of weird feelings...
