One of the probation officers today had a moment with me. I was sitting in the office alone, manning the front desk, and I buzzed him in. He basically said he had heard around the office (from my mentor, I didn't tell anyone else, and I didn't even really tell my mentor either, Love told him), that I had a boyfriend and was moving away sometime during the summer. He basically said he really admired me, was totally accepting of my sexuality and everything, and that he really enjoyed working with me over the last 17 months. And I felt so awkward and uncomfortable. It took me by surprise, honestly.

Plus, my mentor and a few other people from the department are writing a grant worth more than a $1,000,000 over the course of the next three years, so that we can open a drug and family treatment court, and I'm going to be helping them write it. So, that's going to be my life for the next two weeks, and on top of that I have to complete all of my surveying. And, I went into the field today and helped my mentor and some sheriffs make an arrest and stake out a heroin house. It was fun.

It feels really, really, really good to finally be doing stuff again. I hated just sitting around.
