    I went to a party last night, thrown by a straight couple - friends of mine. It was ostensibly to celebrate their daughter's 18th birthday, but the guest list was mainly friends of the parents. (The daughter left around 8:30 with her friends...to go to a gay club. And they're all straight. :grin: ) But as the night went on, I felt the party was really...well, kinda depressing. It was mainly adults drinking (a lot) rather sullenly, and talking rather snarky. And not in a fun way, but like a "fuck THEM" sort of way. It reminded me that a lot of people actually go through life thinking these parties are fun...and how depressing their lives probably are.

    Then I met my cousin and her family for lunch today, and it was night-and-day. Lots of fun conversation, tons of laughter, and only one sangria per person. Everyone left smiling and saying "We've got to do this again really soon."

    I may or may not be having an inappropriate sleepover tonight. Not in the sense that there is any attraction on either side or that anything at all will happen. But the situation is somewhat weird.
