what accents do you love or hate?

I know this has probably been said a bunch already, but I find guys with British accents super hot!!! my celebrity crush is Jack Gleeson( game of thrones actor) he is Irish but I still love his accent. As to what accent I don't like I'm not sure?

 

English accents. ^.^

 

I looove the Scottish accent!! Even though I may actually have trouble with it and I find German accents hilarious I mean no offense of course for instance, I myself have a very awkward accent! (my pronunciation is sometimes American, sometimes British, and mostly just a weird mix of both with my native dialect making things sound weird I guess )

 

I dislike my Scottish accent. Some people have trouble understanding my speech. I want my English accent back. Since I was a kid (honestly, it started with horror movies...) I've been imitating South American accents. Too much fun.

Accents vary so much. I love Eastern German. Some people think it is evil and/or creepy. I think it is strong and beautiful. That reminds me of this joke. I like a lot of accents. Especially European accents. Even the Polish accents that so many people here seem to dislike.

 

I love hearing different accents and I've been exposed to more than 15 different types; all of which I find charming. The only problem I have is when anyone speaks too fast and/or are quite loud. That's an immediate turn off.

Right. Broadcast English is basically Midwestern accented English without any overly noticeable regional inflections and quirks. Tom Brokaw is from South Dakota, for example.

 

Can't stand French, Russian, or Arabic accents. Also thick British accents are quite annoying.

Australian. Definitely. It's awesome.

I know an Aussie that moved to New York. Someone once asked him if Australia had the blooming onion (Outback Steakhouse). He said, "What the fvck is a blooming onion?" One of the funniest things I have ever heard.

 

I personally love accents! Definitely something I find attractive. French, Italian, Spanish, British (all the different ones in the isles), South African, Australian, New Zealander, Arabic, and all the Latin American countries... to name a few.

 

I find it fascinating how so many people seem to like (or even love) the accent of my country. Maybe when you live amongst the same voices everyday, you become indifferent?

Within the UK there is a lot of accent prejudice though, I've experienced that myself. If you speak with a Cockney or Geordie accent you might be judged as "common" or badly educated, but if you speak "Queens English" (received pronunciation) you'll more likely be judged as posh or even "stuck up". It's not very nice to be judged as "stuck up" on the basis of your voice, believe me.

The "Canadian" accent is a myth... I never heard it... ever.

 

Is there not an accent in the UK that is considered a middle ground?

It has a more formal delivery than in the U.S. and with an upward lilt at the end of sentences. The cadence while speaking is also different. After a few minutes, I can usually tell if I'm talking to a Canadian.

 

American redneck accents - not a Southern drawl, like Scarlett O'Hara, but the stereotypical country hick accent. It grates on my nerves. I'm not exactly a fan of a Southern drawl, either, but it doesn't actually irritate me like a redneck accent does.

I really like Irish accents, though, I think they're fantastic. And Russian ones. They're awesome to listen to, and I could spend hours just hearing someone talk.

 

I love British accents! I remember how I loved listening to people who came over from there to talk about universities in England.

 

No accents I really don't like, except a few from the UK.

Posh RP I can do without as they tend to say "yar" instead of "yes" (in a few places anyway). I mean what the heck is "yar"? They think they're German, don't they?

And Scouse accent makes me put my hand on my wallet to make sure it ain't been nicked!

 

I'm from Arkansas and sound like Larry the Cable Guy. I love the Minnesota/Wisconsin accent. The thick Scottish burr is the only one that comes to mind that I don't care for and that's mostly because it is different from what I'm used to hearing that I almost it takes me a moment to recognize the person is actually speaking English.

 

I feel the same way about accents. hehe They are all kinda interesting and different.

I love British (I know there are more than one), French, Aussie, and South African accents.

 

I'm sure I read somewhere that England has the biggest accent diversity in relation to distance in the world.

What I love is the way American movies & Family Guy have the English talking like a poshie from Berkshire or a Victorian East Londoner.
