Hey so I really want to try out for my school's musical which is going to be Godspell. I really want the song Turn Back O Man in the show. We aren't supposed to sing a song from the actual Musical, but I figure if that is the part that I want then I need to show them what I can do right? I haven't played a character like this before.

Any ideas for a song that might be good? I'm not really a singer so I don't know correct terms and such, but I think I can sing fairly high and fairly low.... Anyway.

I love that song and that show!

Here are some suggestions for songs that are somewhat similar to the character/song you're going for (they're all from other musicals):

    All That Jazz (from Chicago)
When You're Good to Mama (from Chicago)
Whatever Lola Wants (from Damn Yankees)
    Cabaret (from Cabaret)
Let's Misbehave (from Anything Goes/Cole Porter generally)
It's All the Same (from Man of La Mancha)
    Amayzing Mayzie (from Seussical)
Let Me Entertain You (from Gypsy)
    Be Italian (from Nine)
I Hate Men (from Kiss Me Kate)
Spanish Rose (from Bye Bye Birdie)
    42nd Street (from 42nd Street)

But any song (showtune or not) in a somewhat lower register that conveys a confident and/or flirty character should work well. Pick something that you like and that you feel comfortable with  Break a leg.
