    Phew, glad that's sorted!

    I was thinking the same thing :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: and a lot of hate in his comments.

    Most importantly, have fun! I'm not sure if you've travelled much but just experience as much as you can! If you get a chance to eat something bizarre and gross, DO IT! There's so much to experience it's not worth saying no!

    I remember recently watching a reality show with a completely obvious gay star (like, not even remotely close to straight) and he was in the area. So, as long as you stay in the safe areas and try your best to keep it under wraps, then you're going to be okay.

    They won't kill tourists lol. The monarch over there wants your money. You can get in trouble if you openly display any sexual activity. Public display of affections is not tolerated.

    That's a very good point! Every place has reasons for doing what they do. For this specific area, PDA is a huge no no.

    Somehow I can't see the UAE risking everything just to put a 16 year old American on trial for his life because they found out he's gay.

    Just be careful is what I'd advise.

    You'll be okay. I've been through UAE airports many times, and one thing to keep in mind with such anti-gay societies is that there is is an implicit assumption that everyone is straight, even for guys that Westerners might see as being stereotypically flamboyant.
