I don't understand the appeal of any of them options...nor their supposed importance.

 

I think I'm a bottom, but I will be willing to try both at first to see what is better. Hey if I like both that can shake things up a bit every now and then

Remain open minded about topping and bottoming and at least try both, even if you think you might prefer one role over the other. You might be pleasantly surprised.

If you want even more of an opinion though, 'exclusives' kinda baffle me, along with the importance I questioned there. While that first part is pretty simple, with the second I'll give an example:

I knew of a guy who started talking to another guy, sometime last year(?). They had plenty in common, enjoyed each others' company quite a bit, etc. After weeks of seeing each other, they eventually got around to their 'bed role' turning up in question; they were both(or one even more so) 'on the same side'. Guess what happened...that good bond they had formed pretty much shattered to a bazillion pieces, as if they hadn't ever talked(which they stopped doing for some reason). One little tidbit of info like that crumbed everything.

That kinda thing ^ really leaves me lost... Why is it such a deal breaker?

Presumably because sex is an important part of a relationship for most people. You have it made it abundantly clear that this does not apply to you, so your confusion is understandable. Likewise, confusion arises for me when I see people who don't care or aren't interested in sex at all.. but you know, whatever.

I meant the whole 'top/bottom' thing; not sex as a general thing(despite that second thing you pointed out being true). It's the reason that I gave the example I did. I don't get how two guys could be so into each other and then, boom, it's like they never met when they find out both of them are tops or both are bottoms.

Yes, we're on the same page. Clearly if both are tops and neither of them like bottoming or vice versa, they're not going to have a very exciting sex life. Well, there's always oral, but maybe that isn't enough for them.
