I have plans with friends tomorrow. I'm meeting with one of them early and plan on coming out to her. She will be the first person I've told. We've known each other nearly 30 years and I trust her with this. Still, I'm incredibly nervous. I have no idea if she suspects why I asked to see her early or not. She lives away, so she may just think I want to spend time with her while she's in town. She and I are the only two in our friend group with similar political ideology, so she may think I just want to talk politics. I have no idea. Anyone have tips on how to psych myself up for this so I don't back out?
Good luck!!! ---------- Post added 25th Nov 2016 at 09:34 PM ---------- You'll do great, everybody straight or not gets butterflies before important moments. Just remember that being nervous is normal.
Just start the conversation and taken comfort knowing that the first few seconds of it are awkward and scary for everyone. Good luck! ---------- Post added 25th Nov 2016 at 10:54 PM ---------- Take*
deep breath, calm your mind and just say it. after the first couple it becomes soo easy, at least for me. i find it self affirming actually.
Well, I did it! I came out to my friend this morning. She's the first person I've come out to so far. I told her, she looked at me, shrugged, and said, "Okay." I knew she would be supportive, but I loved how casual she was about it. We talked about things a little more, and I'm SO glad I finally told someone. I'm also glad that first someone was her. We've been friends nearly 30 years, so she knows me well. Thanks for the support and positivity!
Congratulations on your first coming out! It's always hard to do, even when we know the person will be supportive, it's still hard. I commend you for finding the courage to do it. Take care. ride:
