"That's so gay"

That's pretty much why we should try to get a new word to direct all that nonsense to or something.

Think of kids who are still growing up in environments where they still may be wary when realizing they may have...different attractions. Not even just them, but kids growing up in general and learning 'gay' as something to have a negative connotation such as 'stupid' or 'nasty'...yeah, doesn't do anybody any good really.

 

I like using it ironically. Like when two gay friends of whatever gender do a display of affection, I will sometimes say "Dude, that's gay" in a very matter-of-factly tone. Or when two perfectly straight friends do a very cheesy display of affection, I'll say "ugh, gay."

People tend to see the funny side, though. At least nobody ever got mad at me.

My friends and I just have this running joke where we say "not that there's anything wrong with that" when one of the d-bags in our class calls something gay

 

"Gay" has replaced the word "stupid" ..........

Which is very apt I would say.

 

There's an experiment I secretly try out on my friends. Whenever they call something gay, I respond each time by saying, "yes, it does indeed display flagrant homosexual tendencies." And the more I do it the more it tends to put them off their laughter, they get uncomfortable using it casually.

 

Well for me I'll just accept those kind of words as slangs that heterosexuals can't detach from due to peer pressure. Whenever I heard of those kinds of sayings, I never take them as insults. Basically, just put yourself in their position and understand them and you will, most of the time, never felt insulted again

 

When someone says 'that's gay' or 'that's so gay' my friend often responds with ' grrrl we had nothing to do with it'

Kind of adds some humor into the situation.

 

This was my first thought when I read the title to this thread:

 

I would normally respond to 'that's so gay!' With 'gay people don't say 'that's so straight!'', but I guess I can't use that any more....
