Survey - Your experience coming out to parents

There's no "came out to both parents; it's just kinda awkward" option!!
(this is meant to be funny to my circumstances rather than a critique to your poll)

 

Dad's still struggling, but it went pretty well with the both of them =/ Mom has been real supportive and awesome. ^^

 

Those are positive results.

I'm out to both. Initially dad took it better than mom (who was torn ) But they're both ok now I believe.

 

I'll tell you when it happens.

 

out to none since i need a place to live at least until i get into college =/

 

I was outed to my mom and then my mom told my dad. So, it wasn't exactly a traumatic experience, but it still went badly, in my opinion.

 

I went out to both - went well

At the time itself the whole thing went completely horrible but they did come around eventually (about a year later) and now they are really accepting.

 

I'm out to both my parents. My mother's cool with my being gay, but she doesn't approve of my being in any way butch and is concerned that my being out could ruin my chances at a teaching career. My dad's fine with it all.

 

I told my mom - she's fine with it.

I haven't told my dad ... I think he would be cool with it and all, seeing as he has a gay brother, but I notice he's a bit awkward around him, so I suppose I'll wait a bit before telling him.

 

I came out to my mom (she's really the only parent I've ever had) and it went MUCH better than I thought it would.

Her exact words were "and... duh." LOL

 

came out to mom, dad has passed away. she did not take it well, she is bigoted thinks i am choosing to be gay. i am not choosing to be gay, but choosing to be honest to myself and admit i am gay. it is who part of who i am. wish she understood that, her friends and my sisters are trying to explain all this to her. good luck to all who are coming out
