Signs you were gay as a kid?

I always pretended to be female characters when role playing alone and as much as possible with friends. For about a month I insisted I was Josie from Josie and the Pussycats. I used to pretend to be the sisters of a lot of my brothers' guy friends and I was always trying to be a cheerleader. Most of my playmates until grade school were female and we played dress up all the time. When my parents weren't around I raided my mom's closet. I played with dolls. I remember putting my hair in pigtails when it was long enough. I cried because I couldn't have a purple bikini like one of my friends had.

At the same time I was really into a lot of boyish activities (but so was my best friend at the time who was a girl) like tree-climbing and whatever. I liked fighting, too. I had to considering what a lot of people called me because of all the stuff in that first paragraph. I stunk at it, though.

 

Gilmore girls was literally the best thing ever.

 

Looking back there were a lot.

• I asked for Polly Pockets for my third birthday
• I had a massive crush on Jesse from Free Willy 2
• I gave a personalized Valentine's Day card to a boy I had a crush on in third grade
• I really, really like Marilyn Monroe. Like a lot.
• I was obsessed with Sailor Moon.

 

My favorite color was (and still is) pink, I pretended to be a woman when I was alone. I talked to myself in a feminine voice, I pretended to put on jewelry like rings and earrings, and I pretended that Chap Stick was lipstick.

 

I used to play with ken dolls and Bratz boys as a child as well as play with doll houses whenever i was at one of many day camps as a kid, I also liked action figures but never understood the appeal of things like hot wheels.

 

Oh ya I forgot about that, I totally did too. I watched those movies a bunch of times when I was a kid.

 

Yep. I was trying to remember when I first knew I was "different". When I was about 8 or 9 and first thought about getting married, the person in my daydreams was always another girl.

 

besides being a complete tom boy and looking up/idolizing men uhh wanting to makeout and be touched by attractive females lol...i thought for the longest time it was normal until i learned that it wasnt and i was indeed gay

 

I painted my toes and eventually my fingernails all the time. I had a crush on my childhood best friend, once wrote him a "love note" but decided against it. I would be fascinated with anyone I learned was gay in popular culture.

 

I used to play with dolls and all of my friends were girls.

 

When I was 7, I asked my Mom if I could kiss my favorite female singer. She assumed "On the cheek, right?" and I guess I thought otherwise.

 

My sister did ballet and I would take her tutus and wear them and pretend I was her. On toy choices though, I was very flexible. I would play with toy cars and action figures and I would sometimes play with my sister's dolls and ruin them (I always fancied adding some red lip stick on their faces using a red pen/sharpie)

 

It seems that everybody had those clear-cut signs.

For me, it was just weird and random gravitations towards a few other boys. Puberty hit, and things became clearer.

 

If I am (still not sure) i can't think of any sign. I mean i was more interested in cars than in barbies, i hang out mostly with boys when i was young, play soccer with them but that changed in middle school. It's pretty usual for a kid, i think. i always try to replay every moment of my life searching for clues that might point to me being gay but a part from being a little clingy with two of my female friends there's just nothing.

 

I would say it was the fact that I liked to play with girl dolls, but then again I also liked to play with male action figures like a normal boy. Other than that I can't think of anything.
