I feel like this is the equivalent of being a doctor and refusing to vaccinate patients because vaccinations are against your religious beliefs. But also if she is that religious, did she have a problem issuing marriage licenses in the past for people who would end up getting divorced? Just doesn't seem like a good job fit tbh.
the hypocrisy is astounding. If they were simply honest about their bigotry that would be one thing. But to couch it as deep religious belief when they have no problem granting licenses to divorced people, or people with tattoos, or people wearing mixed fibers, or any of the other things mentioned in the same breath as the condemnation of "lying with another man"... is just ridiculous.
Keep in mind that thanks to the upstanding legislators in Michigan, paramedics can now legally refuse to treat gay people because of their religious beliefs.
If someone starts pulling shit like this in Georgia, I'll have a frying pan with their name on it. <3 Oooooohhh!! She's gonna need a burn heal after that comment!
I feel like that if there is a god, and that god really feels that certain groups are evil, or that jewelry or mixed fabrics, or anything else like that is evil, i think they are a malevolent blithering idiot ! Meanwhile these conservative groups are hating left and right, and no one is calling them out on their sins??? Ughhhhhhhh
Fire them all, and hire somebody who can do the job. There's a lot of people looking for work; if these church-folk can't stand the heat, they need to get out of the kitchen.
There is no excuse for this! If the person is a county clerk, they work for the public. They obey public laws! If you're not going to do what your job demands you, you shouldn't be working in that job. Also, with the doctor thing, how the hell is it against your religious beliefs to treat LGBT people? ...Wait...I think I get it... Jesus would rather see you leave a gay person bleeding in the street than heal him. Makes perfect sense. I think some of today's Christians are not "loving thy neighbor as one would love thyself". How misguided.
This is so stupid though, like they don't work for a restaurant -- they don't have the right to refuse service to anyone. what happened to the hippocratic oath? what's next, hospitals are allowed to refuse lgbt patients? :bang:
this is my thinking on stories like this. the bottom line is, refusal to do your job means you don't get to keep that job, no matter what the reasoning is.
Aw hell no. These sore losers just have to oppress someone or they have a temper tantrum. What if I'm a Cultist and I claim it's my "religious freedom" to paint them all purple and collect samples of their hair? Why should one person's "religious freedom" be forced onto another who isn't a member of that religion?
Well I don't think she had a problem with issuing marriage licenses to divorcees because SHE WAS MARRIED FOUR TIMES HERSELF. I mean I don't see anything wrong with divorce but if you are spouting religious beliefs and thinking your God knows all stop picking and choosing what is convenient for you. I swear people like this make me hate religion more and more. That's why I'm not Christian anymore and I am agnostic.
