Here is a very weird clip I found in youtube, don't ask me how because I don't know it showed up in mt recommended for you section.
Am I the only one that sees the video as counter productive? The dude is sleeping with random strangers that pop out of no where! xD
He could have found that out by simply talking to them for a while instead of just sleeping with them xD I get what the message is trying to say, but, to me, safe-sex is much more than simply putting a condom on. Not a huge deal, but I'm just saying it could have been done better.
As far as the whole guy shown with multiple partners goes. You gotta remember that this is a short film and you need to get people's attention. Now lets face it sex sells and they used it. If it had been them talking well lets face that'd be boring. I don't remember what the exact time was but I think it's that the an advertisement has about 3 seconds to get peoples attention.
It's a harm reduction video. It takes the approach that we may not convince promiscuous people to not be promiscuous, but we can convince them to be safer.
I agree with you that there is more to safe sex then using a condom but the rest of what you said doesn't, to me anyways, seem realistic for a short ad or for the targeted audience. It was imo a perfect blend of common place promiscuity and the true romance dream, with the message that just because someone seems trustworthy doesn't mean you should risk you life over it, so always use a condom. I mean I think there should be another ad for those who don't casually have sex because even if you decided to hold off from having sex for 3-6 months (or longer) to get to know someone, doesn't mean you should forego using a condom. Testing should be done when possible and always before going bareback. but overall I don't see anything wrong with the cartoon, it suited what it was made for.
You are totally right. When I was replying I didn't see it that way, though. I still dislike the video entirely. I think it also has to do with the fact that they show the kid as the victim all the time when he also agreed to engage in hook ups. And maybe I'm reading too much into a simple video. Whatever works though.
