So I've been trying out they/them pronouns. Not because I'm non-binary or anything. I just would like to try out they/them. However, I told someone and they actually said that only non-binary people can use they/them. It really hurt because I know I'm 100% male. I just want to try new pronouns. I might not even keep them. Is it wrong to use they/them even if you're just a binary trans guy?
I guess you can do whatever you want and that’s okay. I get you may want to try something new, but to exclusively go by they / them when you identify as male is strange. Do you not want people to state your gender? They doesn’t denote gender so it’s fitting for a NB individual to use those pronouns but for me personally it feels off if a binary individual would prefer they them.
I'm not sure why I like they/them it just feels right even though I am binary. Im not sure why because i know im not non binary...
I'm not non-binary trans, but if there ever comes a situation where I'll need to use they/them, I will. I'm not going to be utilizing he/him pronouns ever again
i know it sounds like a cliché, but pronouns do not dictate gender. if you're a guy and they/them are the pronouns that make you happy, do it. as long as you're comfortable, that's all that matters. the only thing i would suggest is to be prepared for people to ask questions - but that applies to anyone using they/them pronouns, honestly.
I’m nonbinary and only use he/him. Many people have an issue with that but it’s not their business. What pronouns make me happy (or you happy) are your business only. That being said, people will probably assume you are nonbinary for using they/them. Most people assume I’m a trans man because I use he/him and my name is male. I’m okay with that but it is something that will happen because of the pronouns I use and how I show myself. You might want to make sure you’re okay with people assuming you’re nonbinary.
