Since as long as I remember a friend of mine had an obsession with death. I met her in the 9th grade and every single conversation with her would derail into something about death and dying. I didn't quite notice this about her until now because I was preoccupied my own problems to really notice much of anything else. But I noticed last week while coming home from school with her and she'd talk fondly about her dying. What does it mean when people habitually talk about death, dying?
If it is all she ever thinks about then that is unhealthy. But if she is just fascinated by the idea and contemplates it from a philosophical point. Then it could be interpreted as coming from an artistic perspective. My friends and I have conversations about death but those are deep conversations that happen every once in a blue moon. But it is not always on our minds. So I would say if that is all she ever thinks about 24/7....then there are some issues and she may need help.

I've been told by my psychologist that I'm obsessed with death and I get these urges and "visions" of commiting suicide and people dying. It's not good believe me, it's affected my life and made me antisocial and depressive. And I've bounced from therapist to psychologist etc to get help and finally getting referred to a proper decent psychiatrist to help me. I'd advice your friend to do the same. It's gotten so bad for me (I've had it since around early teens) that my handful of friends keep pushing me to get admitted to hospital before I really do something regrettable.
