A few weeks ago, my gums started hurting in one area of my mouth. Drinking anything cold made more pain flair up. It was swollen. My mom was planning on taking me to the dentist but it stopped after a week so we thought I had just cut or irritated my gums.

Last night, though, I took a drink of cold water and it started up again. It's a little swollen. I don't know how to stop the pain other than an ice pack. Should I go to the dentist? How do I stop it from hurting while my mom looks for one? Does anyone know what could've caused it?

You should definitely go to the dentist. Dental problems can quickly escalate if they are ignored and leave you in agonising pain.
