Hmmm, I don't know if that's an honour or not.....

1. What is your favorite color and why?

I like blue but for no particular reason

2. What inspired you with the idea of EC?

Several young people that needed a site like this were being banned from out big brother site for being under-age, and there was nowhere decent for them to go. So I and a few others there managed to persuade the owners to open a site for younger members, without the porn and the 18+ age limit.

3. Who was your first crush?

I don't know his name. I was about 17 and I guess he was 15 or 16. I saw him at the railway station every week when going to college. That was my first real realisation that I was gay, though I denied it until I was 26.

4. When did you last travel out of the country? Where did you go?

Sitges in Spain, on holiday with Markie. We saw S Club 7 filming there!

5. Describe your favorite memory.

My memory for events is not very good. I tend to look forward rather than thinking of the past, so I can't think if anything in particular. Sorry.

6. Windows or Mac?

Windows currently, but I want to use Linux more. Lack of alternatives to a couple of important applications is the only thing stopping me.

7. Where was your first coming out?

To a work colleague when I was about 26, as his place, after several glasses of cider.

8. If you could do one thing, however extravagant, for one person, what would it be? Who would it be for?

Right now? Well it's impossible but whatever he wants or whatever it takes, for Tristan, if it would make him gay and love me. Tristan you ask..... see my blog.

9. Name one thing that you absolutely cannot stand.

Indecision, procrastination and bullshitting. OK, that's three.... I wish people would make a decision and get on with it, and stop giving crap excuses.

10. What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Pop and rock, pretty much anything from The Carpenters to Meat Loaf.

OK, here goes.

1) If you get a tattoo, where would you get it, what would it be of and why?

I'm pretty much resigned to not getting a tattoo ever. Just don't like the idea of having the same picture on my body for the rest of my life. If I DID get one...hm. I thought once about getting Don Karnage, from the cartoon Talespin, drawn small on my arm. But I also realized that chances were good that he wouldn't turn out looking so hot (he's not exactly well known, and I don't know if they'd be able to do it well). In that case, I'd go with his logo - the "wolf/fox skull & crossbones" shown on the tail of the plane here.

2) Who did you first come out to, when and how'd it go?

My then-best friend, who was 3000 miles away. He took it really well. I told him I found myself falling in lust with my former roommate, who had come out of the closet the year after we had roomed together (wow - bad timing), and wasn't sure if I should make a play for him or not. He gave me some good advice, which I didn't follow, if memory serves.

3) Who is your favorite person in the world?

My boyfriend/partner/other embarrassing term I won't use here. Ten year together next month.

4) Whats your favorite song to sing in the shower, and do you sing it well?

This question cracked me up for a bunch of reason. First off, I DO sing in the shower. I plug my iPod into a docking thing, and play music loud while I'm in the bathroom. Secondly, I did that this morning. Why is that funny? I picked a specific folder on the iPod for some reason this morning - "instrumentals". So no singing, other than a few "Pick up the pieces!" and the stray "Tequila!"

My absolute favorite? Not sure. Probably something by Prince. "I Would Die 4 U" I quite like. Am I good? Oh, hell no.

5) Who and when was your first crush?

The aforementioned former roommate. Senior year of college. It was painful. I remember sitting down in my shower, hot water bouncing of my head, as I cried and wondered what the hell was wrong with me. Finally hooked up with him almost five years later...and I shouldn't've.

6) When did you first realize you were gay?

Unlike many, I can tell precisely when this was.

Junior year of college. I was starting to get pissed, because while other guys either had girlfriend, or were panting after girls, I was doing neither. No girl ever made me look twice. I even had tried actively STARING at girls who were supposedly cute, and nothing happened. Well, I thought, maybe I'm gay. The thought didn't scare me, but it didn't reall yseem likely, either. But I figured I should at least give it a try before I discounted the idea.

I went outside - it was a warmish day - and sat down on the bench outside my dorm. I felt really self-conscious, since I was about to ACTIVELY stare at some guy in an attempt to find out if I was gay. I felt ridiculous, but I figured I had to try it. So I sat out there, and then this guy jogged by. He was wearing nothing but shortish black shorts. I sort of half-checked him out from the front, and gave his ass a more thorough once-over once he ran by.

I went from self-conscious to extremely hard and horny in about five seconds. I'm surprised my pants didn't rip open. And I'm surprised I didn't actually yell out, "Holy shit, I'm GAY!"

People have a tough time understanding this. But I'm really not very visually-atuned. I'm not blind or anything, but I don't take in information visually as much as most people do. That probably had a lot to do with my delayed realization. Not that problematic, though - my high school was really conservative.

7) Whats your favorite memory?

Wow. Two come to mind. One is my first night with my partner. (Rawr.) The second...well, I'll be a bit vague. I helped some people fulfill a lifelong dream, and got to be there when they saw it all come to fruition. They started crying, and I did, too.

8) What is your favorite band or your favorite singer?

Hard to play single favorites. Let's say Herbie Hancock and Prince are tied for first.

9) If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I always look horrible in photographs. I don't know why this is, but people often say "Why do you always look so goofy in pictures?" I'm not TRYING to - it just seems to happen. I've tried loosening up, tightening up, being serious, being happy, pretending the picture isn't happening - I STILL look bad. It'd be nice to photograph well for awhile.

10) Whats the most fun you've ever had?

I'll just "the last fourteen years". And leave it at that.

1. If you could tell something to all the gay teens in the world, what would it be?
I would tell them that most of the people who say they hate homosexuals don't realize that they know any. It's one of the reasons that it is important to be out and to make it clear that what you feel is normal and those who are homophobic aren't normal.

2. What's your ideal brownbag lunch?
Maybe not so much a brownbag lunch but probably a picnic with friends- food, wine and good company.

3. In your answering of medical/sexual questions here or elsewhere, was there ever a question that made you totally drop your jaw? (Don't go into details if you'd rather not.)
Honestly, I've done this so long and I've worked in public health for so many years that no question surprises me. What shocks me is the living conditions of poor people in US and how sick many of them get because they can't afford healthcare.

4. What's in your pockets right now?
I'm still in bed, so there are no pockets.

5. What was your favorite toy or game while growing up?
The doctor's kit that I got at age 5 (no surprise there)

6. Who would be your dream date? What would you do?
With my partner and I'll keep it PG from there. :lol:

7. What are you afraid of?
I'm acrophobic- I hate high places.

8. What's the worst movie you ever saw?
Depends. John Waters' Multiple Maniacs was not watchable and I think it scarred me for life. Xanadu was so bad that you had to laugh but at least there was eyecandy.

9. You've got a week off and an all-expense paid vacation - go where you want, do what you want. So...where do you go, and what do you do?
In reality, I'd love to stay home and not do a thing. But if I'm going to travel, I'd spend a week wine-tasting with friends in California.

I had a think about this - and from about ten names that initially came to mind, and without thinking too deeply - I came up with the following (fairly eclectic) little list:

2. If you had to pick one person to be stuck with on a deserted island, who would it be?
Someone i could relate to/get on with - and who had excellent survival skills.:icon_bigg
3. You've lived a lot of places- which place is your favorite place?
There have been a lot of places I have really enjoyed - but home (now) is where the heart is. Oz - in fact the North Coast of NSW is where I love to 'get away'.
4. What is your first memory of being gay?
Well - actually...it would be the realisation, after having had a mad crush on a girl in primary school, that I liked guys as well - when I found myself 'looking' at a guy in my class (a really good swimmer) at secondary school.
5. What do you consider the "perfect date"?
Is there one? Actually, I would have to say it would be one of those occasions where you just 'click' - and regardless of the location or circumstances - it all just seems perfect.
6. If you were offered 2 free tickets to see any performance/concert, who or what would you go see?
I have never yet been to see (but would really like to) Cirque du Soleil. Of course - I would choose to go and see it somewhere distant and exciting that I hadn't been before.
7. When was the happiest time in your life?
Oh God - I've been lucky enough to have a pretty damn good life. That's hard. If I had to boil it down to one period I would probably go back to when I was in my twenties and spent the better part of five years travelling - Overland through Europe and Asia (twice) and a huge amount of time in S.America, the Caribbean and N.America. All that made an enormous difference to the person I am now.
8. When was the unhappiest time in your life?
Hmmm...probably when I had a brush with depression (not nice) about 5-6 years ago. Thankfully I found out what was the cause and hopefully won't go back there again.
9. What do you like to do for fun?
A lot of things, LOL. I love my sport (watching and participating). Travel, the company of friends, good food, a good band, movie, book...all sorts of things.
10. What do you value the most in your friends?
Being open, genuine, honest, loyal...

1. What is your favourite food? (NOT drink, LOL).

Nachos with salsa and jalepenos.

2. Who are three people you most admire?

I'll count the South Park creators as just one person, because I admire the same things in both of them; they stick to their principles, they are unashamed to be who they are and say what they feel, and they are not conceited. They basically just say "Yeah, we're a couple of assholes who try to be funny."

Serj Tankian as well, co-founder of Axis of Justice, Lead singer of System of a Down. Again, very principled, very liberal, very deep ideas on some of life's greater questions, and yet also incredibly funny at the same time.

And lastly, my grandfather. He greatly influenced my love of art, always ready with advice on my perspective, application of paint, markings on the clay etc. He taught me to read when I was younger as well as other skills such as memory. He was just somebody who I viewed with utmost respect, again, a very humourous person, but who also knew when it was right to be serious.

3. What do you think has been the single most important event in your life so far?

Possibly when I got the letter saying I had been accepted into my High School. I hated my middle school with a passion, had few friends and I was at that stage where I thought "Oh hell, I have to get out of here or I'm going to go nuts." So I applied for my high school, and funnily enough ONLY that high school. It was either pass and be able to get away from my horror of a middle school, or fail and have to remain, and I thank whatever higher power there is that I passed.

3. Where do you visualise yourself 25 years from now?

Let's see, I'll be.... 42

Scenario one: The younger Holly has written a best-seller gay novel, as well as her many gay themed paintings. She lives in her large French mansion, with her own vineyard and wine production. At her side is her drop dead gorgeous, with a wonderful personality, supermodel wife, because gay marriage has finally been legalised in the whole world, thanks to Holly.

Scenario two: Holly is an art teacher, whose worries in life include taxes and students not handing work in on time. In her spare time, she does the things she enjoys best, writing, reading, painting, most things creative and constructive, as well as her occasional job as a drag king. Upon returning to her flat, she is greeted by her girlfriend just back from her own job. They also own a cat.

Now decide which one is more realistic.

4. Name one well known personality who really annoys you - and why?

Tom Cruise - and as to why? A mixture of Scientology, and getting so worked up when people say he's gay.

5. Who is your favourite comedian?

Can I say the Monty Python crew? Ok... hmmm.... out of all of them it has to be John Cleese; he did a wonderful job on Flying Circus, as well as other side-splittingly funny shows like Fawlty Towers.

6. Where on earth would be the last place you would want to go?

Sahara Desert. I hate heat, I hate sand, Nuff said.

7. Who or what inspires you?

Everything. I love different things, I love different opinions, I love different takes on things, I love contraversy. Everything makes us think in some way, I love things that make me think "I never thought of it that way" or "That's strange, but it makes sense."

8. What would be the most outrageous thing you would like to do?

I would love to bungee over the Thames. Imagine that "I'm gonna fall in the water! Oh wait, no I'm not.... OH CHRIST, I'M GOING IN THE WATER! Oh, wait up I go again.... I'm going in the...."

That would be hilarious.

9. If you could be present for any event (past or future), what would it be?

I wish I could have been part of The Great Orange Boycott of Anita Bryant, or any kind of cause that has changed history for the better. It must be wonderful to think "I was a part of that."

Urhmm well every 15 minutes i check if my iphone is still in my blazer pocket, if thats a ritual ? and every morning i ALWAYS drink a glass of orange juice. But thats more habit I think.

My complexion, because it's greasy and bumpy and all that other teenagey stuff.

My dream superpower is the ability to read minds. It works by me being able to look at a person and knowing what they're thinking at that exact moment. I want this superpower because I'm paranoid and always think that people secretly dislike me, and this way I could know for sure! :0
3. What is your favorite movie and why?
I like Juno, because it was funny but still had a moral and a purpose.
4. Would you rather leave your family and friends forever to be financial secure and extravagantly taken care of, or be homeless with your family for the rest of your life?
I would be homeless, because my friends mean the world to me.

I would be paralyzed, because I've never been one for walking anyway.

I would get the person out of the road, then go back and call 911. Seems logical, no?

Honestly? My 14-year-old-self was redirected from ***. I didn't join until later, though. (For the record, I'm glad that *** redirected me, because a.) *** is gross, now that I think about it, and b.) I love EC!)

The little things can make all the difference to the bigger things.

I've always loved the name Ivy. I'm not sure about a middle name.
