I do find it annoying about straight guys...I think that's how homophobia always is. Doesn't matter if in the military or not...they always think they're the gods and therefore every guy and girl thinks they're hot...and frankly we don't. That cockiness frankly is what puts guys and girls off last I checked.

very true...the arrogance that straight guys have is yucky...i hate it in clubs and not all dressed up thinking they are sooooooooooo amazing its like yea whatever >.>

then again in a gay club its the same.

i just think guys have an ego that they are irresistible... luckily some of us have developed past this childish state :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

It's not THAT bad. They only have to serve the minimum of a year (or 9 months or something like that). And you can get out of it and do community service instead, like voulenteer in a school etc if you have a good reason NOT to serve in the armed forces. Like if you're sick, or if you are against using weapons and violence, against going to war (there's a word for it, but I can't remember what it is). But other than that, yes. Most 18/19 year old men MUST serve. But in most cases it's kinda slack. It's not boot camp like in USA, it depends much on WHAT tasks you are doing. I know somebody who was a guard, eating pizza and reading books for the entire year. LMAO. I know there's something called "a hell week", but I hear it's pretty slack after that.

And yes, many political parties do think it's outdated and want it to be voulentary instead. However, nothing has been done. We now have a socialist/centre government and I think they want to keep it as it is today. However, all the conservative parties is for making it voulantary, so I see that happening if and when we get a conservative government in the future. It will stay like it is for the time being though.

And also, I know many people do A LOT to get out of it, but they are pretty strict. Gays are allowed to serve openly, so that's not a good reason not to serve either, lol. A friend of mine started uni right after high school when he was 19 (we go to school from 6 years to 19 years here), but many people are sick of school and take a year off after graudating high school to work etc. Anyway, he started uni right after HS just because he didn't want to go into the service. So they accepted that he waited until he finished his university degree.

Also, 30 year old women without kids are also forced to serve :frowning2: So that sucks.. I guess I should just go and get myself pregnant to get out of it. lol

And Revan, if you are against war and using weapons, you're a pasifist (is that the right word?), and that's a valid reason for not joining. However, you probably need to do community service instead. I remember in junior high we had a teacher's assistant for a year because he couldn't join the military.
