On gay.com, there's a part of the profile in which the person can describe his mannerisms with the following choices: masculine, in the middle, or feminine. I feel like almost no one chooses feminine, but I know there are a lot of gay men out there who have a very pronounced femininity. So it makes me wonder what the general consensus is on what makes a man effeminate. How would you "describe the mannerisms" of the following characters? -The boys from Queer as Folk (US) -Anthony and Stanford from Sex and the City -The two guys in Latter Days -George (Rupert Everett) from My Best Friend's Wedding -Will and Jack from Will & Grace Just wondering...
I don't really know those examles you said but Jack from Will and Grace is prettyćeffeminate(in good way) and Will would be in the middle...I guess
-The boys from Queer as Folk (US)....middle to effeminate -Anthony and Stanford from Sex and the City....feminine -The two guys in Latter Days...nevr seen the movie -George (Rupert Everett) from My Best Friend's Wedding....middle -Will and Jack from Will & Grace...jack, feminine. will, middle.
I think that these categories of masculine, in the middle, or feminine are very vague. Certain aspects of someone's personality could fall into any of those categories. I also think that being gay allows us to embrace our more femine side whereas in being straight there are restrictions on what may be considered too feminine. Striaght guys like to act macho but deep down i think they'd like to embrace femininity to an extent. They're just scared of how others will see them or even how they'll see themselves. One thing that kinda discourages me is that in the media most gay characters fufill the gay stereotype of being effemininate. I'd like to see more masculine gay characters
