''LGBT+'' or ''MOGII''?

I like the word lesbian

 

So do I. It has a nice sound and it's connected to history.

I can understand when ladies who like ladies don't use the term, though, due to it's use in porn and fetishism. If they just want to use "gay", that's fine by me.

The only word that truly bothers me is "dyke". Heads start rolling, especially when I see another lesbian using it to describe me.

Eh, I just like the way LGBT rolls off the tongue.
Despite whether or not the other two are more inclusive and have fewer letters, I don't plan on switching things up and causing some form of confusion over an acronym that I'm not 110% impressed by. I'm not fond of MOGII because the term "marginalized" carries a negative and "woe is me" tone to my ears. GSRM would be good but, like clockworkfox said, it really does sound like some kind of test, which is not wholly pleasant in my mind.

People who engage in non-consensual sex, hence, why the guy who wanted to make rapists a sexual orientation was a pedophile.

I know not all pedophiles act on their urges, but this guy seems particularily creepy...
Pedophilla is a mental disorder, NOT a sexual orientation. When will our community get that?!

I'll continue to use LGTB, thanks, but in general I really don't care what acronym is used. I'm gay and that is that.

 

LGBT is fine.

Mogii feels like misspelled Mowgli which could make poor kid upset.

 

LGBT+ is the universally recognised acronym accepted by both LGBT and non LGBT+ alike.

If it ain't broke, no need to fix it.

Unheard of as it is, I think MOGII is more inclusive. Sure, everyone is used to hearing LGBTQIA+, but I do get that it's lengthy, requires explanation for TQIA+, and MOGII is a concise acronym for the misfits. Well, maybe the M can be changed.
Just my thoughts.

I don't like MOGII - the reason? The M stands for marginalised. Yes we are marginalised now, but I would really hope that that is only a temporary thing. If MOGII was adopted as the norm we would forever be "marginalised", at least semantically. It also seems to imply a weakness to me, rather than demonstrating strength.

I don't personally approve of LGBTQ. If people would like to identify as genderqueer that is fine, same as if some black people wish to identify using the term ni**er. However I don't think, given how it is historically (and presently) such a powerful slur, that it should be included as standard in LGBT. Particularly in the UK where "queer" is probably one of the stronger words in homophobic slang - probably equivalent to "faggot" in America. Its just not a term I personally want to be faced with or associated with.

Could you imagine how a black person would feel if their employer came out as saying "I support inclusion of black people and ni**ers"? Or you went to a Stonewall group to hear "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Faggots". Well that is essentially what having LGBTQ is like.

 

I'm fine with LGBT but to be honest I don't really care what we're called or what acronym is used as long as we're all still part of the same community.

 

Because it's just as much about gender identify and lifestyle choice as sexuality.

 

Plain old LGBT. There's no way in hell that I'm going to say it as "LGBT plus". LGBTQ is a no. I detest the word "queer". GSRM reminds me of the name of a school I once attended, so that's a no, too. MOGII annoys me because "Marginalized" is not a term I'm going to use to describe myself.
