Lesbian Chat + Curious Friends

Hey I'm back. I went out with some new girls that are really inclusive. We hung out at Barnes and Noble and I went to my favorite section, LGBT. When they found me in that section, it was still kind of weird ousting myself. I don't "look like" a stereotype many people have in mind and I've always felt like I wasn't good enough to be myself. I felt a little like an odd ball but they're really inclusive and nice, so hopefully everything turns out well. What do you guys think? Similar feelings/scenarios? And, how have you all been?

Sounds like you've found some good friends. I think it was a nice way to out yourself in a low-key way.

I hung out with a new friend yesterday. She is also very inclusive. We talked for hours and both said we had been missing people to have long and deep conversations with. We were both so happy when we went home.
I really wanted to mention that I am a lesbian, but I always struggle to find a casual way to let people know (even though we talked a lot about gay rights).

Love the name; short and sweet! How did you "come out", or does that happen to you, when you meet new ppl?

 

Maybe it doesn't need to be said. You guys did chat for a while and everything seems to be going nicely w/your new bud. Maybe, just when/if it comes up you can casually confirm the fact that you're out.

I think it's nice to find someone that you can chat about civil rights with, specifically gay rights. This new friend, Megan, is so intelligent. She reads so much, and is so nice and inclusive. She even gave me an idea about a new book to read, "Sister Outsider". It's about a lesbian feminist. We started talking about that; I really feel like she can be a good friend if I stay positive and open to others and myself.

Megan sounds like an amazing friend. I googled the book, it looks great. I'll see if I can find it at the library (I love reading, particularly lesbian feminist lit).

 

Amazing! Most people I know are in straight relationships/only talk about dating people of the opposite gender, but I've gotten to a point where I'm thinking "they could be gay or bi" about pretty much everyone who hasn't explicitly told me they're straight.

 

That is very cool you grew up with two moms. It sounds like you have a busy and fun house hold. I can imagine it would be completely foreign for you to see a straight couple since all you know is lesbian couples and nothing wrong with that. I bet that is a cool way to grow up!
