Last book you read?

Faces In The Water by Janet Frame. She's a New Zealand writer and the book is based on the time she spent in mental hospitals and how the staff interacted with the patients. She writes in a very poetic style that is both very vivid and very beautiful. It's one of the best books I've ever read I think.

 

Currently reading Virginia Woolf's "A Room of One's Own".

 

I binge-read Nevada by Imogen Binnie last night and I really liked it. As an AMAB who considers themselves to have "crossdreamer" (otherwise known as autogynephile) tendencies, I related a lot to James. I was never the kind of transgender individual who knew that they were trans from a very young age, although there are some events from my childhood that could be seen as early signs. Even now as a thirty year old I'm a fairly average male-presenting individual (albeit one who shaves their thankfully sparse body hair) with a liking for mainly masculine and gender neutral interests such as football/soccer and reading.

 

I started reading The Devil In The White City about H.H Holmes but I didn't have time to finish it.

The Shining. I lost count of how many times I've read it.

 

Finished The Outsider by Albert Camus today. Also known as The Stranger, or L'Étranger.

I'll say I've finished The Secret Agent too, finally, because I've only got a few pages left.

 

What did you think of The Stranger? I read it last summer and I have to say, it's one of the oddest little stories I've ever read. As a plug for his philosophy, I don't know how convincing I found it, but it certainly illuminates the philosophy.

 

I loved it, I bought it on Friday and the only reason I didn't finish it in a day was because I was reading TSA at the same time. It's the first 'philosophical' novel I've read, and it won't be my last, looking into reading Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre next, or another Camus.

 

Last book I fully read was .. 13 hours by .. Uh.. Nita Brah-something of rather?

I need to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" for school but the last book I willingly read was "Killing Reagan".

 

The last book i read was allegiant from the divergent series. ITS AMAZING.

It would surely be better if tobias was in love with a guy... not Tris...

 

I'm reading the kite runner at the moment and I am VERY impressed. It's incredibly well written and I'm worried about reading it at school in case I get too emotional again *sigh*
I recommend it!

 

I love this. It's my favourite novel. Need to read it again.

Not exactly a 'book', but I've just finished reading Salomé, by Oscar Wilde.

 

Robert Lowell - "For the Union Dead", for the third or fourth time. It's a collection of poems, but they really must be read in order.
