I think I've swallowed a residue from my partner. It's my first time and is a bit paranoid but I trust him, loosely based on his history.

Question: How long should I wait for signs or anything. Or should I just stop being paranoid right now?

Try to relax because the risks are very small from swallowing. It's unlikely you will see any signs of ill health at all from this.

    This.

But its also a good time to learn about getting tested, where to do it, etc.

Try to get tested at least once a year while you are sexually active. Most health insurance will cover it and most cities have free tests for you.

I would suggest depending on how often you are having sex or intimacy with someone that once a year is not enough.

It's not just about protecting yourself but also other people you are with.

It is my first time. And have never had done oral with anyone, and also he hasn't had sex with anyone in the last 9 years of his life.

Yes. It sounds like everything is fine. The first time I was with a guy I freaked out like you are.

It's fine but you should be getting checked regularly regardless of it being safe or not.

Unless you have an open cut in your mouth / gums you're fine. If it gets swallowed it goes into your stomach and hiv / other viruses get neutralized by your stomach acids. The risks are quite low from oral.

I would chill unless you have any open sores, wounds, etc in your mouth. Remember be conscious of your partner and what you share but swallowing is mostly safe. Your stomach acid will destroy most anything. I will say again there is always a risk but be smart with your sharing.
