How was 2022 for you?

2022 was actually my best year in many years. I was able to focus more on the the things most important to me - art, literature, travel, languages - and let everything else go. Not all the time - but far more successfully than at any point since... my 20s.

There's a school of wisdom that says life starts to get better in later middle age. I never thought I'd be saying this, but I am starting to see the truth in it, at least on my end. For all the queers out there who are struggling, there really is hope if you keep looking deep inside and asking who you really are and what you truly value. Knock on wood...

* is it acceptable to say queer here ? I don't mean it as a slur. For men and women my age, it was a cultural and political identity, and a badge of honor. (ACT UP and all that)

 

Very bad, mostly because of war in \ukraine

 

12 - I'm going to break format and just say what my year was. It was a 7.5. One of the better years for me in a while. A challenging year with highs and lows but a lot of critical growth that needed to happen after years of stagnation. Hopefully it paves the way for better years to come.

+Got a science job after my last company closed in April
+Got my uscf rating to 2000
+Did some self improvement, worked out, optimized my look
+Got back into dating and though I have yet to get a relationship, had some flings at least
+Gained a deeper understanding of human psychology
+Had some great hikes and saw some great scenery. First flight out of state since the pandemic.

-Lost best friend after discovering he was a narcissist.
-Gained a rather serious psychological condition that I'm still working through.

 

1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?
Mom moved out to Idaho with us, so its nice to have her only 20 minutes away instead of 8 hours.

2. What are your plans for the Christmas/New Years?
None really.

3. How were relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends?
married, so same same.

4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2022?
Aside from the invasion of Ukraine, nothing really stands out.

5. Favorite song/artist from the year?
Parkway Drive, they kick ass.

6. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?
I did not

7. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?
Nothing really comes to mind.

8. Did you gain any new qualifications?
A lot more miles hauling oversized loads.

9. What is your happiest memory from the year?
Mom moving out.

10. What were the best and worst months of 2022 for you?
The year was mostly meh... or a lot of feeling of failure.

11. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2023? What do you hope will be different?
No resolutions. I just hope the universe decides to teach me something new instead that life isn't fair... I would be happy with no luck at all instead of bad luck all year.

12. How do you rate 2022 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?
4, not really bad, but not really great.

13. Will you still be on EC this time next year?
Absolutely.

 

What was the biggest change in your life this year?

This year was fairly life-changing, given the fact I discovered I was trans.

Not really.

Non existent.
4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2022?
The war in Ukraine.
5. Favorite song/artist from the year?
I don't listen to much music younger then 100 years old, but I discovered Vaughan Williams' music, it is very beautiful.

Didn't make any.

Started Viola as well as violen.
8. Did you gain any new qualifications?
6th grade violen is kinda a qualification i guess. Enough to play in non proffessional orchestras.

How well my friends took me being trans!

All pretty average to be honest.

Not making any.

1. What was the biggest change in your life this year?

• My biggest life change this past year was finally gaining control over my own finances. it made me feel like a real adult even though paying bills sucks sometimes.

2. What are your plans for the Christmas/New Years?

• I spent Christmas with my dad, stayed the night over at his house on Xmas eve, attended Christmas Eve mass with my dad and brother. The next morning we had some coffee, opened presents, had a yummy breakfast, and watched the Disney Christmas Day parade on TV.
• On New years I made a drawing, watched a rerun episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and rang in the new year with a can of Dr. Pepper and some pizza rolls like my mom and I used to do.

3. How were relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends?

• I'm single so I can't really answer this question.

4. What news story sticks in your mind the most from 2022?

• Defense of Marriage Act probably. Although there were many news stories that surprised me this past year (2022)

5. Favorite song/artist from the year?

• To be honest, I don't keep up with all the newer music...but my favorite song would have to be either Saihate by SennaRin (produced by Sawano Hiroyuki) or Melt also by SennaRin (produced by Sawano Hiroyuki). Basically any new song produced by Sawano Hiroyuki has been my favorite. Probably going to be the same this year too....American music hardly interests me much anymore unless it's something by artists I follow...¯\_(ツ)_/¯

6. Did you make any new years resolutions and if so, did you stick to them?

• I don't honestly remember what they were. Maybe partially yes and partially no? I'm not sure.

7. Did you do anything you never thought you would do?

• Honestly be paying my own bills as mundane as that sounds. I also never thought I'd finally get control over my own money as well. It honestly still blows my mind.

8. Did you gain any new qualifications?

• Not sure what this is referring to...I've learned to be more responsible? Does that count?

9. What is your happiest memory from the year?

• The memories of hanging out with friends and getting to do many fun activities with them. I don't have one specific one.

10. What were the best and worst months of 2022 for you?

• I can't name any specific months. It's all been up and down for me...it depends on what was going on at the time. I will say that some months have been better than others.

11. Are you making any new years resolutions for 2023? What do you hope will be different?

• Not so much a new years resolution but more like a goal maybe? I'd like to be kinder to myself and become more confident as well. I'd also like to continue saving up funds to hopefully move out of the red state I'm living in because I'm scared that it's going to get bad for trans people here. I'm hoping to maybe visit my friend out in California on vacation maybe sometime this year too? I'm hoping we can get some more anti discrimination laws in the books, especially concerning LGBTQ+ people and get better access to healthcare.

12. How do you rate 2022 on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the worst and 10 being the best)?

• Probably a 4 or 5...not a banner year but not all bad either.

13. Will you still be on EC this time next year?

• I just joined yesterday so I probably will be sticking around here for awhile.
