Oh yeah there's no doubt the practicalities of large age gaps aren't as straightforward.

The second point especially is something I think is generally overlooked, at least in the initial "honeymoon" period of a relationship.

I understand what you mean on your second point Aussie as it is something I often worry about. At the same time though, I could just as easily die tomorrow by catching a disease or getting hit by a bus.

But the old are just as likely to catch a disease or get hit by a bus, and are more likely to die of both of those. Then there's the fact that old people will face age-related health problems and death on top of those risks.

I think, right now, someone who's 40 is about my limit. I'm not really picky as far as age, but I don't want to date someone who's easily old enough to be one of my parents.

For me 30 would be the oldest I would date, I prefer people around my own age.

Being 17 I'm not sure any of those numbers qualify to me. U:
But I would stay within my age range I guess. I don't wanna get too crazy.
Like I wouldn't date anyone old enough to be my aunt/uncle/teacher. Ew.

I have an age bottom of 25ish most guys younger than that I start noticing a gap in our interests cell phones and internet were around when I was younger but weren't very common. By the time the kids ,who were in about 5th- 6th grade the on the year I graduated, finished H.S. it seemed like everyone was born with a phone in their hand.

As far as upper limit I don't have a hard limit because I have been around some great people who were in their 60s. If they were gay I don't see any reason that I wouldn't have dated them.

At your age, 2-3 years difference in either direction is a big difference. One direction is either off to college or starting a career, the other could still be in junior high. I kinda like the formula younger>= (older/2)+7 until the gap starts reaching the 10-15 year mark, where generational issues start. And, given your age, that formula would give a limit of about 2.5 years younger, or 3 years older. And, for me, as far as a serious relationship goes, I'd probably have a problem with someone older than about 40, or younger than about 24. These aren't hard limits, but guidelines.
