Kylie.....Hello and a great big LGBTQIA+ welcome to Empty Closets! I can remember the first post that I made on EC. I was desperate for help and I got the help that night that I so needed. I hope that we can help you in the same way that I received help. The most important thing to remember about Empty Closets is that we do care about you! We're very glad that you found us here on EC and hope that we can answer questions, give you support and provide a place to vent (as long as it's not violent!) when that becomes necessary!

*****There are 18 different sub-forums here that you can check out and join in the conversations or start your own thread/conversation. When I first joined Empty Closets I was in need of a lot of support and encouragement and I found it here…EC is a safe place. I hope that you'll find good things here too! Folks here will talk to you and share...you don't have to be afraid of asking questions...we're glad to have you! Empty Closets is all about making connections and giving LGBT folks a voice when they otherwise don't have one in their day-to-day lives. In particular you may want to check out the forum that is titled "Sexual Orientation”, there are people there who may have dealt with some of the same kind of issues that could be challenging you. As a side note we do have a policy about using your name as your user ID. You will probably get a message about changing it to something else...no problem at all...just an easy change!

Some info on how to navigate EC:
When you have made at least 10 posts on various threads you will be able to post messages on a member's Profile Page. Just click on a member's Avatar Picture and then click on "Profile Page" in the dialogue box that pops up. You'll then be on their Profile Page and there will be a box that says: "Write Something" When you have been on EC for a few weeks and have made at least 50 posts on various forums, you can apply for Full Membership. A Full Member can send Private Messages (PM) to other Full Members and share personal contact info. Right now you can only send a PM to a Staff Member as that is always possible. Here is a quote from the Full Membership information forum:

*****To be eligible you must be a member of Empty Closets for a minimum of two weeks, and have a minimum of 50 posts. These posts must be across numerous forums (Fun & Games does not contribute to post count), and consistently posted across a minimum of two weeks. You wouldn't be eligible, for example, if you registered, had no activity for two weeks, and then returned to post 50 times on your 14th day of membership.

Welcome to the EC Kylie I like cute things and cats too.

 

They are so cute.

 

Kylie.....I just noticed that I missed your comment about loving cats. I am also a cat person! My kitty "Biscuit" is sleeping on her indoor bed in my office with me right now! When my sons were young we always had cats, but they belonged to the boys. Biscuit is the first cat that we have had the belongs to me...or perhaps I belong to her! Some kids threw her out on our front lawn when she was only about six weeks old and she found her way on to our patio. We took pity on her and fed her and that made her ours from that moment on! She is so sweet and lovable and is such a part of our family now that I can't imagine what it would be without her. She is an indoor/outdoor cat. She has a kitty "house" and bed on the patio with an automatic feeder, a big bowl of water and a liter box. She spends most of the day outside chasing birds and bugs, etc. and can climb a tree faster than light speed when a dog comes around! When we are outside doing anything, she is right there "supervising"...with the exception of the lawn mower, of which she does not approve. Usually around 5 or 6 pm she decides that it's time to come in the house. She will wait by the door until we notice her and then she goes down the basement stairs to my office. She has another bed, a bowl of food, treats and water and she will settle down for a three or four hour nap. Sometimes she will jump up on my desk to inspect what I'm doing to see if she approves and she also will often "play" with me for a while...which requires a leather grove for me if I don't want to bleed! Once when I was writing a paper she jumped up on the desk and literally took the pen out of my hand so I could pay attention to her and pet her! Around 8:30 pm I will wake her up and she will snuggle in my lap for "pets and loves" for 15-20 minutes. After that I have to de-fur myself, but the snuggle time is worth it! At 10:00 pm I take her out to the patio to her outside bed. She usually doesn't approve, but puts up with it and nestles into her outside bed. If you go to my Profile Page and click on my "Media" there are several photos of Biscuit. I hope I haven't bored you with my story about Biscuit!
