Has anyone ever called you a "social justice warrior"?

It's a phase I've heard use to describe professional victims such as Anita Sarkeesian.

 

They may have been referring you to the tumblr social justice warriors which don't great reputation so it may have been an insult..

It seems like he's describing the people who have called him a social justice warrior. He does not appear to be saying that "social justice warriors" are fascist.

 

Honestly, I think Social Justice Warrior was probably a term invented by assholes on Tumblr.

Tumblr has some really terrible, unacademic bullshit that goes on there. However, people who hate social criticism have decided that Tumblr people are "the authorities" on whatever feminists/anti-racism/anti-ableism activists are thinking, so anyone who opposes violence and harassment based on classifications must be an evil "social justice warrior."

 

You can't be condescending then expect people to not be condescending back. Thanks for the cocern trolling.

Not necessarily but the two often go hand in hand or are again concern trolling so...

Huh? In my first post, I was mostly joking ; I don't see where the condescension was.

Seriously, I don't really get what you're trying to say (besides "Edgy doesn't know what fascism is").

In my first post, I was talking about SJW types that I have encountered, and I have encountered quite a lot of them. They generally aren't very informed about actual social justice issues.

 

I've only heard it on Tumblr. I've never been called one, or heard the term thrown about.

 

No, I haven't been called a social justice warrior. If anything my friends and I throw the term at one another in jest. I'd say we're all relatively egalitarian.

The only time I've ever seen Social Justice Warrior used is on the internet, namely Tumblr, and it's primarily derogatory. While I don't think it's wrong at all to be defending and supporting the rights of other groups of people, the term has generally taken on a negative context - in regards to "extreme activists" where everything and anything seems to be taken to offense somehow. And unfortunately they (some, not all) step over minority groups to 'make a point' and it just winds up being a big mess. Of course this isn't always the case by any means. And some of the supposed "SJW"s are trolls too.

Though I wouldn't take it as a compliment, considering the context of the term.

No edgy probably isn't trolling. Just a teenage libertarian who thinks he's edgy and smart when he calls things "fascism" or "communism" or "imperailism."

I get called that because I want to stop harassment on a certain forum.

Sometimes I wonder, why being a decent human being is considered a bad thing nowadays...
