Ya I' am going to Osaka, Japan in a few months and going to stay there for 3 weeks. Usually my mom and I go there once in 2 year but my mom wasn't feeling well so it ended up that this year we would go. She is getting better so now we can goto Japan again then I can see my grandparents again. All my relatives live in Japan only me and my mom lives in the USA. It's a long trip basically 13 hours from USA to Japan but there will be more hours all together since we have to go from Omaha to Chicago since Omaha doesn't have international airlines. Also after we get to Japan we have to go from Tokyo to Osaka so basically comes around close to 16 hours all together.

Ya kinda funny but so far I' am only the gay guy in the whole family but that's kinda hard to believe since there's got to be someone that is gay also like maybe my cousins but I don't know if they are gay or not since I haven't seen them for years like more than 10 years. I don't think they are gay though but I just don't know. I just find it hard to believe that I would be the only gay guy in the whole family but is that possible?

Since you've been to Japan, I want to ask, how is it in terms of homosexual tolerance? I've only read about it, and have never been to Japan, so I'm just wondering about it from someone who's gay and has visited/lived in Japan. Hopefully, if all things go according to plan, I should be in Japan in about a year from now. So, that's why I'm curious.

Well according to my mom and grandparents they don't really tell anyone because in Japan everyone usually follows what everyone does. I know there are gay people there but I just don't know if today it's changed as much since I don't really have friends in Japan that are around my age. I know that my grandparents days they say there is no such thing as boy dating a boy or so. But my mom says that in Japan they are probley gay groups but Japan is tend to follow what others do kind of things like even fashion on clothing if some design gets popular than everyone does it. Also I remember this but Mango juice was popular in Japan around 2009 and every small restaurant had Mango Juice but no other fruit flavors for juice related. Now of course they have everything we have there but just they attend to focus on one thing and others do the same thing. So basically my mom said that gay people aren't out much since they would be different from most people are. But as you know my mom is 56 years old and hasen't lived in Japan for many years since my mom moved to Omaha, NE USA around 1983 a year before I was born. We only go there to visit my relatives like my grandparents but for my mom of course she wants to spend time with her parents.

I bet things have changed a lot today compared from my mom's days so I assume they are open more to gay people now than before. But still since it's a big city people attend to do one thing like one kind of juice for example and other places they sell drinks have the same kind. But don't worry you can still buy fruits and vegs and everything else like in USA but actualy they have more stuff there that is better than ours. Basically I think there good is great since they have soo many kinds to choose from. I usually end up eating too much and get diarrhea since everything tasts soo good.

Another thing I can say when I said everyone follows the latest fashion is like lets say if girls wore high heels then every girl does it. Or is that have certain makeup color or so then other girls does it too. Kinda funny but I guess I think even in bigger cities in USA are sorta like that also.

Ah, I see. I've pretty much heard similar. I know that it's more tolerant than before, but there is the mentality, "you can do whatever you want in your private life, but we don't want to know about it". It would make it hard to come out. And, I'm sure in major cities, there's probably gay/lesbian clubs, etc. More emphasis on society as a whole than individualism (which I like about Japanese culture in general, but it can also have its negative points).

The gay porn industry in Japan is pretty big, just saying.

I'm saying from my own experience that Japan is generally OK with homosexuality (given the overexposure of that theme in manga and anime, heck, the hadaka matsuri is pretty gay :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:), but gay marriage is very far off.
