Hey people! So, my first session with the gender therapist is coming up very soon, and I am so excited and nervous at the same time! Excited because i've been looking forward to this for a long time, and nervous because I don't know what's in store for me.... What can I expect the first session to be like? I could need som general advice if anyone has any to give, as I am so nervous.
Hi, Lovisa! Well, I'm starting that sometime soon, too, so I can't give you any advice, although I'd also like to hear it. I just wanted to give you a hug and wish you good luck! <3 (*hug*)
Hi Triflow! Thanks for the extra bit of good luck! (*hug*) I can let you in on the details once I have been there! But until then I could need some input on what I can expect.
Usually the first apoitment is an intake appoirment. It helps you both to get to know each other a bit. They will talk about your history with you a bit, and what has made you realize that you are transgender. They will also probably ask what you would like to do in the future when it comes to transition.
Congrats first... Second-ed what Brad just said. From what I have heard, The therapist will ask questions about your personal background and ideas of gender. It's important to be honest and open, and also ask him or her about his experiences as a gender therapist.
