LGBT News Gay People Should Be Jailed If They Don’t Submit To ‘Ex-Gay’ Therapy Says Lively

You get many crazies coming out of the woodwork when they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning. I'm more scared of those crazies who run in places they might actually win.

 

He is operating under the assumption that these therapies WORK.

They don't. I've been through therapies and gay-fixing camps more than once. They're physically and emotionally abusive.

 

Well, now that weed is gaining increasing legalization, guess Lively's just thinking of us poor taxpayers who don't already have enough prisoners to subsidize.

 

Course he has to operate under the assumption that they work; most of the rhetoric of the far right on homosexuality is based around the idea that it's an acquired condition that is curable. If they openly admit that it doesn't suddenly their entire argument dies a wonderfully gory death; but as long as they can keep enough people convinced that it's no different to something like depression and have a supply of "ex-gays" more than willing to shill for them then they're good to go.

Hell, even if it was proven beyond all doubt that we're born this way they'd still back a "cure" for it, they'll just compare to something else you can be born with.

Fortunately his run for governor of Massachusetts is laughable, he is a complete joke. Massachusetts Republicans tend to try to be moderate in order to compete in such a liberal Democratic state, Massachusetts was the first U.S. state to legalize same-sex marriage back in 2004.... look at Mitt Romney, who ran for the governorship of Massachusetts as a moderate in 2002 and governed as a moderate, then he declared himself "severely conservative" in the 2012 presidential election and he embarrassed himself getting only 37% of the vote in his home state and failing to win a single county.

But if batshit crazies have taken over the GOP primary even in Massachusetts, a Scott Lively nomination would guarantee a Democratic landslide, Lively would be lucky to get 30% of the vote. Plus he would embarrass and damage the Republican brand in races across the nation. Though it's a sad commentary on the GOP that a dangerous deranged clown like Scott Lively even has a place in today's Republican Party.

Unfortunately Lively DOES have influence outside the United States, and has been instrumental in passing international anti-gay legislation, from the insidious ban on promotion of "non-traditional orientations in Russia to the far more overtly vicious life imprisonment for gays bill in Uganda.

Republicans have historically pandered to and enabled these types of insane social conservatives, you just don't hear about as many anymore because it's no longer a political winner to publically persecute gays.

And that's what makes him dangerous. We can see and know that he's a laughing stock, but as far as Africa, Russia and a lot of other countries are concerned he is Stephen Hawking minus the wheelchair.

You'll get tortured in jail anyway, but it's OK because you chose to be a homosexual and brought it on yourself. Phrases like human rights are blasphemous in the gospel according to Lively.

Lively has got a snowball's chance in hell of being elected anywhere in the United States. Although he and his ilk like to present themselves as the acceptable face of homophobia, the mask completely falls apart the second you put him in an environment where he has to speak off the cuff.

Same with a lot of public figures come to think of it. It's just with Lively and co it's a lot more pronounced because of how odious his views are and that they've seemingly had no training in how to keep their more extreme views to themselves.
