Since a lot of us here are teen, and I'm assuming that a number of you will be going to college soon, I wanted to give a list of the top 20 friendliest/ most unfriendly college in the US. Top 20 Most Gay Frienly Here is the link and list http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/rankings/rankingDetails.asp?categoryID=2&topicID=24 I don't know much about the otheres, but I go to Cornel College and I can give you some information about it. It may be expensive, but Cornell College (Not Cornell University) has great financial aid so you shouldn't worry too much about that. Just add mssg me on here, or add me on myspace(myspace.com/ixxxxxi) 1 Macalester College 2 New College of Florida 3 New York University 4 Simon's Rock College of Bard 5 College of the Atlantic 6 Stanford University 7 Wellesley College 8 Mount Holyoke College 9 Bennington College 10 Emerson College 11 Sarah Lawrence College 12 Bryn Mawr College 13 Eugene Lang College--The New School for Liberal Arts 14 Beloit College 15 Hampshire College 16 Harvey Mudd College 17 Lawrence University 18 Grinnell College 19 Swarthmore College 20 Cornell College Top 20 Most Gay Unfriendly Link/List http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/rankings/rankingDetails.asp?categoryID=2&topicID=25 So, Notre Dame may be number 4 but I have a friend who goes there and she says that she met a gay guy there a couple of weeks ago so there must be something for gay out there, I wouldn't recomend it though, if only for the fact that it is number 4 on the unfriendly list. 1 Hampden-Sydney College 2 Baylor University 3 Wheaton College (IL) 4 University of Notre Dame 5 University of Tennessee--Knoxville 6 Grove City College 7 Trinity College (CT) 8 Samford University 9 Washington and Lee University 10 Seton Hall University 11 Brigham Young University (UT) 12 Pepperdine University 13 Valparaiso University 14 Hanover College 15 Texas A&M University-College Station 16 University of Utah 17 William Jewell College 18 Calvin College 19 Miami University 20 Purdue University--West Lafayette
Thanks I was looking for something like that. Well none of my schools fall on the bad list, so that good!!
That's cool, I'm actually looking to apply to Swarthmore, and Brin Mawr is part of a circuit with it, Haverford, and Penn, so that's neat too (you can take courses/use facilities at all, with transportation between).
Some of the things that surprised me about these schools was that they are not only incredibly expensive (compared with public, instate schols) but also that these schools are such good schools with average GPAs like 3.9 and 3.5 that is much higher that the average US school, som schools have average GPAs of 2.9 and theri considered god schols but as far as I have seen, theese are all good schools, but I'm at Corell so thats the only one that I would promote
I'm surprised Wesleyan isn't on the list. I'm applying Early Decision there. It seems really gay friendly.
Thy this. It is a list of colleges that have a GLBT staff coordinator. These should be more accepting towards us: http://www.lgbtcampus.org/directory.htm
Ha! The Princeton Review is wrong...MY college should be at least No.2 on the most unfriendly gay schools list. Not sure what Hampden-Sydney College is, but I'm sure you can't be kicked out for being gay...unlike my school. Heck I'd be kicked out if they knew I was visiting EC and posting here about being gay.
Definitely on the unfriendly one. As I understand it, it's essentially a university run by fundamentalist christians.
The Advocate College Guide for LGBT Students is a book that can be found at most book stores and it has a more comprehensive look at not only the top 20 friendliest, but 80 more gay friendly schools
Woah, thanks a lot for the post. Now I know what to look out for. I'm kinda dissapointed that Texas A&M was on there though. I was actually considering going there. But I'm glad NYU's on the friendly list! =D
yeah I was looking through the advocate guide of the top 100 most gay friendly campuses, but they seem to have forgotten wesleyan which is clearly very gay friendly. swarthmore is not included either, so I wonder about the criteria upon which they made their decisions for including particular colleges .
