Worth a try my Dear, even 1 local friend would be a start. What do you like to read?

Just wanted to say I'm in the same situation. Most of the time I'm completely isolated and only able to socialize on the internet. The thing I noticed is a lot of women my age are not really interested in making friends. They have their own family, kids they're busy with and me being single, gay and not a fan of kids, I can't relate to them at all. At this point I pretty much gave up on having friends, instead I hope to find a romantic partner who will also be my best friend.

That sort of place is good to meet people who... understand.

We have the advantage of comfy chairs here.

Aww poor kitty. I wouldn't blame her for not liking that lol.
There are clean ups occasionally but they always seem to happen when I'm working. That's a good idea though. I'll have to keep an ear out, maybe one will happen to land on my day off.

Yeah I've come across some of the same problems. There was one girl I was sort of friends with (through my mom) but then she started popping out babies and getting caught up in family life stuff. Which is fine, but like you I'm not a fan of kids.

I bet. I mean, at least Colorado Springs had anime and wargames stores and stuff. This place has jack shit, just Churches and junk like that.

The area I grew up in has a billion competing churches. Bleh.
Most of the ones around us have signs condemning gay marriage bc it is legal here now. There is one with a rainbow flag though, so that's nice. I still wouldn't want to socialize with any of those people though.

I feel the same about churches. One I went to years ago was very homophobic, but not openly with big signs and whatnot. I'm lucky to live in a very accepting place so that kind of stuff would not go over well.

That's good at least. The area I live in is kind of just outside the edge of a city, so everyone is very polarized one way or another, and even in the city people do get into fights about it.

Seriously? Can't people shut it for once? There's nothing wrong with being gay/lesbian/bi/etc. And religious nutters still exist? Burn 'em all.

Sorry, that sorta thing pisses me off a lot.

Absolutely. I wear a 'love is love' button on my jacket and have gotten people to stop me to tell me I'm wrong. Mostly people just tell me they like my button though.

That's a very nice button you've got there...

Just... Aargh! There's something wrong with homophobic people, or as I call them, idiots.

    agreed

I thought of another idea for meeting friends though, what about one of those 1 day classes? I'm not sure if they have them everywhere, but arboretums and some colleges will have classes periodically like "flower arrangements" or "CPR for pets" or stuff like that. I can't vouch for how uncomfortable they might be though- I always seem to chicken out before going.

I haven't heard of that sort of thing. OP, do something you find interesting though.

That's another good idea. You should try it sometime, see what it's like  There are cooking classes around here sometimes but that's never been an interest of mine.
