Well this might be cheating seeing where I'm from. :icon_wink But to sum it up in 11 points:

    • Home
    • Villages with pubs and churches
    • Big populated towns and cities yet big swathes with very little population
    • Liberalism
    • History
    • Culmination of cultures
    • Regionalism (yep, the bad old north-south divide which still seems to crop up every now and then)
    • Unique architecture
    • Never far from the coast
    • Crumbling seaside resorts
    • Most importantly, always plenty of self-criticism yet a quiet understanding that we have it pretty damn good!

Seriously, just read Hexagon's posts in this thread and you've got it summed up completely.

And as for TV shows, yes we have Doctor Who and Sherlock, however we also have some of the trashiest, exploitative, downright offensive reality shows and 'documentaries' ever produced. And it always bloody rains.

Absolutely disgusting, from what I hear. Can't understand why people would give up their time to make or watch something devoted to the demonisation of people. I haven't actually watched it, but I've heard people at college going on about how good it is. *wants to strangle*

I haven't watched it either, I'm just going with the backlash from it as well. And I would also be very tempted to strangle anyone who called like that 'good'. What's even worse is that it's not the only 'documentary' about people on welfare that's been shown in the past few months.

Like you, I'm hesitant to call it a documentary. It's closer to right-wing propaganda, really.

As close as it can get without outright endorsing a political party, at least.

Yeah. It endorses the ideology, and that's bad enough for me.

Physically - England, Mentally - Wales.
I like being British and living in Britain.

I'd rather be living in Wales than in England but I live in hope that I'll be able to arrange a move to Wales one day.

Like all countries, Britain has many flaws and the Xenaphobia of some its residents frustrates on a daily basis. However I am very proud of many things in Britain [most of which the current government are trying to destroy] like the NHS, equal opportunities and so on.

On a less political note, I really love the greenery in Britain ("this emerald isle, set in a silver sea, etc" I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else, except possibly Ireland.
