Shelter! Although i prefer to think of it as a film about family obligation, dreams, desires, love, confliction and confusion that just has a gay romance in it. As apposed to a move about a gay romance that just includes other things. I believe looking at it like this opens the movie up to people who are not just interested in a gay romance. Those who have seen it will probably agree that the romance isn't the main story in the movie.

I would actually say that Shelter is better than Brokeback Mountain.

Being asian, the Wedding Banquet touched me deeply as i related to the guy a lot

but the movie that moved me most was Yossi & Jagger. i cry everytime i see the last part of the film.

Latter Days, Beautiful Thing and Shelter, though I'm getting sick and tired of disappointment after disappointment when watching gay themed movies, Its so hard to find one with a happy ending it pisses me off. I recently watched Dream Boy and I had such high hopes I was so disappointed and angry at the end. I watch movies purely for happy endings, if i wanted to see how much life sucks i can just look around or read the newspaper.

recently watched All Over the Guy, and Latter Days. I thoroughly enjoyed both. Although not always the best character development in either, they were both happy endings which gives me confidence! I loved the story in Latter Days, very emotional.

Just started watching Shelter (may take a few days). From what I have heard and seen so far, it should be good!

Although not strictly a gay film, I thought The History Boys was a pretty good movie.

You can look at shows on shotime and hbo as really long movies I think, so i'm gonna suggest the new show on shotime (if you've got comcast and shotime, it's on demand)
    US of Tara
It's simply amazing... the show it's self is about this woman, Tara, who has multiple personality disorder, but she also has a husband and 2 children, a 15 year old girl and a 14 year old gay son (who is out of the closet at the start of the show, and it's refreshingly matter of fact within the family who accepts him because being gay is a lot easier to handle when you have to deal with a mother and wife with 4 personalities) There's a good story line on the son having a crush on a boy who's father is the pastor of a church... it's a really amazing show, i HIGHLY suggest it.
