soooo..... today I went to the library to get my copy of "The God Box" from interloan. It came in 3 days ago, and I just went to pick it up. They are required by law to keep interloan books for ten days before returning them if they aren't picked up. But when I went in, the librarian opened my requests, gave me a disgusted look and said that it wasn't in. Bull. Not only did they withhold public information, but they also were actively discriminating against me - every GLBT book I ordered from interloan was canceled. They ignored my music requests and research book, but dropped the hold on my gayer reading selections. :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum: I'm so mad right now. They should know better than to mess with an angry fag already. but basically my trust in the library is completely ruined because of one bitchy lady. :eusa_naug thx for reading my rant (*hug*)
An institution of learning being that closed minded is disgusting. Hopefully the quality of your library will improve after some ass kicking occurs.
hmm.........I thought that there were laws against discrininating against GLBT books in libraries......but that may be just for other stuffs........
there are laws. now I'm cooled down a bit, but they still are going to get my angry letter in the mail, and if nothing is done, there will be a state attorney coming in to clarify the laws for them.
Well done for sending that letter, because what happened to you was so unfair!! People should have the right to read whatever books they like, regardless of their nature!!
Good for you for saying something. This kind of behavior from library employees is absolutely NOT okay.
K so it happened AGAIN. The same lady too. Oh, and I looked through the shelves, and lo and behold, out of the six books on homosexuality, 4 of them are missing from the shelves, but are listed as available online. So I will be doing a bit of investigation to see if someone interested in the subject just picked them up that same day, or if this woman is muddling with the books. We live in a fairly open town, so I don't know what this woman's problem is...
wow... I swear she should get fired and never be able to work at a library ever again... she's a screwed up woman and she deserves the worst that could possibly happen to anyone that has a job... Mwahahahahahahahaha!!! doesnt make sense does it? lol
So... you reserved an LGBT book and she said it wasn't in? I wish I knew librarian lingo. Do they have managers? Supervisors? Ask to speak to a different librarian. Say, "Can you double check? Can I have a different librarian check?" Tell on the bitch. It's okay to be a tattle-tale. : P
Yeah, the only way to deal with people like that is to take it up with their supervisor. Dealing directly with the person won't cause much more than an argument, unfortunately.
That is totally unacceptable I would go up to her and say "excuse me bitch, do you have some kind of problem with gay people?
That sucks. Definitely complain. The library's where I found most of the queer-related books I've read, and it's really shitty of her to keep them away from you.
Hehe, My school always accuses you of losing books and charges you like 3x times what they are worth. So I just but them in my bag now and return them when I please~ n_n
