    Even though this is online, I was as nervous about joining in as though this were a real-life icebreaker.

    I'm a transguy, unfortunately not passing as a male..yet (hopefully sometime in my future); but I like guys...sooo I guess that sort of makes me gay in a roundabout way.

    Well the idea is that it gives you a reason to chat to somebody and potentially make a new friend. Although sexual orientation etc are taken into account when categorising people, it isn't because I am expecting y'all to go on blind dates and perhaps hook up with the person I pair you with. :slight_smile: Some members often feel nervous about starting conversations with new people, so this hopefully gives that person a reason to initiate a conversation. As both peeps have been paired and seemingly signed up for this pairing, there's more comfort for the member in knowing they're initiating a conversation with a new person who they know beforehand wants to meet new people and should (hopefully) be responsive at participating in the game they both signed up for. :slight_smile:

    Although there's no guarantees you won't be paired with somebody you haven't spoke to before. For that not to occur would require me to tamper with the matches, and that takes the novelty out of it being entirely random then. ^_^
