General News dogs can be shot if they bark when police enter

Why is this ok? That shouldn't be! IT"S JUST AN ANIMAL!!!!! It doesn't know better!

 

Sad! The days of protect and serve seems to be long gone. It was done during a drug bust that time. I am sure there are plenty of officers out there who would be reasonable, but it takes just one who will end up killing some old lady's Poodle that will end up on CNN. Thanks for posting this as I missed this story and have a dog. June

 

Why, it's a dog's only way to communicate, now a dog can get shot if it's barking. Oh my god I hate humanity now. So many people are just becoming total dicks to things that aren't hurting them at all.

Well it's America, they are actually going completely backwards. In four years America is going to be a horrible place to live. I guess that's the choice of the religious because so many of those nuts are deluded people.

 

I can kinda see where they are coming from, police officers want to minimise their own casualties and if a dog is backing aggressively or moving towards them while doing so, then I would say they have the right to fire if they feel threatened.

That's literally like saying "If a human speaks when police enter a home the police can shoot the human."

I sure am happy that the police here aren't like that.... All of our four dogs would be dead, because they bark at anything suspicious, but they aren't aggressive. Just defending their territory from possible threats, just like these innocent dogs in the article... This is just ridiculous, innocent get purposefully hurt and it's apparently fine :bang:

 

I'm losing faith in humanity, if it MOVES! Just think about that for a second, if it moves, it could just as well die. And just HOW are the dogs going to know not to bark? More often than not, unless it's a pitbull but even then, it's just a bark and nothing more.

 

That's completely insane! That should never happen to a dog, all they're doing is barking, that's what they do!

I can see the logic of an officer firing if the dog was actually attacking, but what harm does barking do?

 

Heard about that. Its horrifying. Its a bit more horrifying that they get away with shooting people, but that doesn't make being allowed to kill animals for the thrill of it any less bad.
