Hi guys, how are you doing. I really hope you're doing great. Last month, on february 8th I bought a Dell laptop, it is a Dell inspiron 3505 and everything's been great so far. However, a few days ago I noticed there's like a fissure on it, which I'm really surprised because I take good care of my stuff, so it wasn't me who did it if you ask me.

In fact, in the image it looks like a stain, but let me tell you it's not a stain. Actually, it's a fissure and if I run my finger over it, it can be felt.

I contacted dell a few minutes ago and they say warranty doesn't cover ''aesthetic defects'', it only covers hardware issues. I don't know if someone at the store where I bought it could've dropped it.

Do you think it was dropped?

the fissure is near my thumb in the image, I don't know if you can see it.

It looks tiny and if it doesn’t effect the performance of your laptop does it matter how it happened? If it was dropped the damage would have been much worse.

It’s really hard to say. As @Loves books said above, I would guess that dropping a laptop would cause more damage. It looks more like it’s been chipped or scratched by something, like a wrist watch. That sort of damage can be really easily done without noticing.

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear about your issue! It's never nice when you damage a newly-bought device. However, I have to agree with the comments above. Why bother if it doesn't affect the laptop's performance? Things like this happen, so don't pay too much attention to issues as minor as this. How's the laptop, by the way? I used to own a Dell Inspiron 3505 a couple of years ago, and while I was really happy with it, it just broke down after a while. It turned out my hard drive was damaged before the purchase. Luckily, I was at least able to get help from a specialist in laptop data recovery and save my data. Cheers!
