It depends. LOL means I legit laughed, lol means I at least cracked a smile. I think a lot of people do it just so there's no awkwardness though. Whenever you don't know what to say just throw in an lol.
I use it for what I perceive as funny comments even though I rarely actually laugh out loud. I think that I've laughed out loud like twice in my life.
I usually type "lol" when I crack a smile/don't want to sound awkward, and "lmao" if I actually laughed. Yeah, it's slightly messed up. But hey, whatever. Oh, and I've only typed "lmao" a couple times since I started typing.
I type "lol" of I actually laughed, and I will type out "funny" or something similar if I didnt. But if I laughed really hard or found something hilarious enough to repeat, I will type lmao. But there are a bunch of ppl I talk to that type lol all the time, even when something's not even remotely funny, so that looks a bit dumb.
When I type "lol," it means I comprehend/understand the humor, or it makes me smile, but that's it. When I type "LOL!" or "hahahahahaha," that means I'm actually laughing! ^^
I usually just smile or smirk. I rarely every actual have a laughing fit, but if I do I'll be sure to write. ROLFMAOPIMPTIME or RIFK
I usually smile if I write "lol", and "LOL" means I actually cracked up. @ InARut: I love that video. I'm typing l-o-l but I'm not laughing . . . =/
I rarely type lol, cos I usually dont laugh out loud. Instead, I type "hehe" cos the overuse of lol really peeves me off...When I really laugh, tho, I will type lol
only one person really makes me LOL on the Internet otherwise yeah same as above, lol and lmao. rofl is caused by extreme funnyness
