I love both cats and dogs but identify more as a cat person...

Yes. I would go with this.

However, I periodically come across cats I find likable.

I'm a cat person.. Very much so. I love little dogs though! As long as they don't lick me and jump all over me we're good! Animals are beautiful creatures. But I am a cat girl. No doubt.

Neither really - but I'd rather have a dog than a cat. Cats are too aloof for my liking, and every cat we've ever had has spewed up hairballs everywhere. My mother has a pug and it's the craziest thing in the world. It will literally run around in circles for no apparent reason. Tons of fun, lol.

With that being said, dogs require more effort, and I don't have the time or energy to take care of one. Basically the same reason why I don't want children.

Neither. They can both be adorable, but they both have their flaws.

    Cats.
I am TERRIFIED of dogs. Because of bad experiences and almost being bitten. They scare me a lot.
Also, cats are adorable and I love how they lick sometimes. It's so cute! I want to get a cat.

Cats, so much. They're so cute. Besides, I enjoy their independance. My cat doesn't even need a litter box, he goes outside when he needs to go. Basically we only have to feed him.

And he's affectionate, too. Such a cuddler. Loves sleeping with us. He talks (meows) to us all the time.

I'm not a fan of the sound most dogs make when they bark, I'm too lazy to walk a dog, and I'm not very confident with them, anyway. (Read: scared.)

Cats; didn't even need to think about that. I like dogs as well but would rather them stay in the 'not mine' category.

I love dogs, but I am much more of a cat person. Dogs are great when I can borrow them, but the hassle of walking them every day is too much for me. Cats require less work, and less attention, but are still able to love and cuddle with you.

I grew up with dogs, but I love cats. I have two cats. As far as I'm concerned, though, if a dog can walk on a leash, then a cat can walk on a leash. He can meow, claw and whine all he wants to, but a cat's going to be leash-broke. That is final. I am not going to have a cat run loose, especially in a city, and I am not going to have a cat locked in a cage its whole life. The animal is going to get adequate stimulation, and he is going to be safe.

The reason that I like cats, in addition to dogs, is that I don't follow the orthodox belief that "a cat is independent." If anything, cats can be very emotionally needy, and loneliness is not good for them at all. Ironically, I find dogs to be more self-contained, at least emotionally. I see a cat as a high-maintenance animal, and I think that making sure that a cat gets the most out of life requires an involved and interested parent.

I like dogs for the same reasons, which is why I like them, also. In my current situation, I would be more hard-put to keep one happy, but I think that dogs are awesome. What they have over cats is that you can snuggle a large-breed full-body, and the feeling of its fur pressed against you is dear to my heart.

DOGS!!! Because coming home after a long day to a dog literally screaming "I LOVE YOU. PET ME. YOU'RE MY FRIEND AND I LOVE YOU," can turn my whole day around. My new dog Bella is just so adorable and loving! :3

I think I'm more of a cat person at heart but I still think dogs are really cute. They're just too much of a handful for my liking.

I'm allergic to both, but I love both. I do like dogs a bit better. (My favorite pets are birds and rabbits.)

I love dogs more than I do with cats... Cats scare me, especially when they go hiding somewhere and you can't find them... those mini heart attacks...
