I'm shocked how many people can't really swim. I guess because I live on the coast I sort of see it as a completely necessary skill but I suppose if you don't live near water there is less of a dangerous aspect of not knowing how to swim to think of. Mind blowing to me though because it could easily make the difference between dying and not dying.

Yep, I'm a great swimmer. I took swimming lessons at four and was jumping off 15-20 foot rocks by the age of five. I live close to the river so my parents would take me swimming every day in the summer. I loved it. I still like to go swimming as often as I can.

While I cant 100% confirm the date that this rule was set into place, but I do at least know that everyone who was around 6 from 2000s had to learn how to swim in Australia, its literally a thing everyone has to do, however some of my older relatives don't know how to swim and all.

So yup, I know how to swim. But its not really something I like doing, sort of like I don't like maths.

Yeah, I love it. Swimming three times a week kept me healthy and helped rid some of my the negative feelings I had. Not being able to swim anymore because dysphoria got too bad sucks. I can't wait until I get top surgery to get back in the pool.

If swimming is like riding a bike, I can. Haven't been swimming in so long. Now come to think about it, haven't ridden a bike in quite a while either. I may have to get out there and see if the saying is true.

I do. I had a swimming pool growing up, and learned how to there. That said, I've never been a very good swimmer and I usually prefer to spend time in the Jacuzzi or spa :sunglasses:

Learned when I was five. My brother taught me the basics and I figured out the rest.
I love swimming buy haven't been able to go to a pool in the while.

I probably don't have proper technique, but I can swim a bit. I don't think I'm at high risk of drowning :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I apparently swim like a dog or something, dislike getting wet so I don't have much practice at all. Can stay up, but I assume it's improper due to energy efficiency or something like that, but I tire quickly anyways.

I can't swim. I took a few swim lessons when I was about 7 or 8 just didn't know to swim.

Occasionally, I would swim(sort of swim) in some small ft pools that aren't so bad.

I had a swim class(for PE credit in undergrad) I took and I was like the only guy out of 3 other people(2 girls) that couldn't swim that good. I mean, I had swim jammers for the class but I barely went passed 40-50 yards at times because the deep end was too much for me.

It really surprises me that so many people can't swim properly/at all.
When we had swimming classes in 4th grade there were a few people who could't swim which was quite normal I think, but when we had swimming classes in 6th grade there was one boy in my class who couldn't swim and that was really weird.

I can breaststroke and front crawl, but backstroke never really works although I had to learn that too in 6th grade.

I feel like I could if I had to.... I had lessons when I was younger and I remember how to... But I haven't actually tried in years... Tend to stay where I can reach with my feet.. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

My parents forced me to take swimming lessons when I was a wee child. Hated hated hated it at the time, but I guess now I'm grateful lol

I think I got up to level 6 of swimming lessons (that I had to take re-take) and still never passed. But oh well, I know the basics.

I was a fish in a past life. A slow fish, but a fish nonetheless.
