Yesterday, in honor of NCOD, I made a Facebook post visible only to the 11 family members that I have on Facebook. These are people surrounding my mom and my stepdad (previously out to), as well as my sister. I posted a graphic stating that I am bisexual and that it is National Coming Out Day. I captioned the post stating "Contrary to popular belief, we DO exist!", taking a jab at one of the many misconceptions about bisexuals. Several people had "liked" the post throughout the day. My sister commented, "Am I interpreting this correctly?". I replied "yes". She stated "I am a very proud sister!". I believe that most if not all family are supportive of me. In case there are some that aren't, there are enough other family that are.
I couldn't believe I had done it after I had posted it. It still hasn't completely sunk in yet, but I know I will appreciate this more and more as time goes on. I had half a mind to blow it off and not go through with it yesterday as I of course was nervous. But I knew I would be disappointed if I had not done it. So I did it. I feel pretty good right now
