Any ETA on the new chat system? Seems like summer means less people are busy and more likely to join. Seems like an official IRC chat wouldn't be hard to establish.
This is one for @Chip, as he has primarily taken the lead on this. I know that it's certainly near the top of the to-do list, and I imagine it would be the immediate thing to resolve right after we have the full membership system up and running, which should be imminent.
I take all the responsibility for the delay on this. There's been a lot going on for all of the admin team (including me) as well as Dillon, our engineer, this summer that's sidelined some of the work on EC. My target is mid-September, but with luck it may happen before that.
