I am a afab pan/omnisexual. I like the sound of butch and think it describes me very well. But I'm told that you can only say you're butch if you're lesbian. Can I identify as butch?
You can identify however you like. I don’t think “Butch” has to be a “lesbian-only” term. I think if you’re afab or female-identified, you can use the term “Butch” if you feel like that suits you. Yeah, there’s some people (lesbians) who won’t like it, but if you’re a woman who’s attracted to women (whether bi, pan, gay) I don’t think it should matter.
