Not when I was in high school, but now in college, I probably would, unless none of our friends were going. Then I'd be too scared to go at all. Not that there are really dances like that here, mostly we just go clubbing in West Hollywood. Oh baby!

I asked my friend Andrew out to Military Ball, sorta like prom. He's really not interested in any sort of relationship, so he said no. Still, he's not afraid of being outed. And well I'm already out, so it wasn't a big deal.

I went to prom orgy-style, two girls and a guy were my "dates"

I would have gone with just a guy since its the end of grade 12 and i would have been asked to leave, so i could have skipped the whole thing AND made a scene (two birfs with one stone trick)

100% honestly - my school would ask me to leave the prom if i had a guy as my date

I totally read "prom" as porn the first eight times I read the title....

And yea, I would, if I could just find one to go with me....

I would tell the world to F*** it and by the way you really should call the ACLU or someone if your school tries to tell you that you can't take a same sex date to a dance because (at least in the USA) it's unconstitutional for them to say that. I know someone who works for the ACLU and he had a case like this and a school can not go against the constitution. He OWNED them.

I've decided on not going to the prom at all, despite my friends' wishes, for a lot of reasons. Still, even if I wanted to go, I wouldn't go with someone of the same sex (even if someone of the same sex was willing to go with me) because I tend to shy away from any kind of commotion. I don't like the evil glares, either.

I wouldnt have in high school at all.. we didn't really do the whole "take a date" thing though.. we just went usually. Though for my final year someone asked me which was nice
Now in uni I wouldn't have any problems going to a ball with anotehr girl, it'd be fine.

Yeah, I'd go to the ball with a girlfriend if I had one. But I probably won't.

If I was out and had a boyfriend, then definately. As far as I know, the school administration doesn't have any problems against same-sex couples going to school dances.

But I'm probably not going anyways.

I wouldn't go with a girl. Well, I might, but as friends.
My school is quite homophobic. Although my friends aren't.

I'd totally go with a girl.
It's not against the rules as far as I know.
    So yeah, I would

I'd go with a girl, sure. I've never heard anything concerned it not being allowed... and my friends wouldn't care.

    I'd do it.
Not likely to happen, but I'd do it if I had the option.

Our school is fine with girls taking girls because their are so many more guys then girls in our year and they see it as just going as friends but won't let two guys go together, it's really stupid. I'm going with a girl this year, but it is only as mates because shes straight.

As much as I should say yes, i don't think its good if you go to an "elite" private school. Mainly because this is about tradition. And since I am probably the first aussie t comment about it i'll post this link to a debate which raged at an "elite" school thamy school competed against. Well that's my australian view.....
