A recent poll by our school newspaper revealed something I had known for a while, the number of out LGBTQ girls at the school vastly outnumbers the number of guys. This begs the question why? Statistically, the numbers should be more equal. Well, I have a few theories the most likely of which is that the general homophobia that is so common among guys, and the fear of losing friends keeps a lot of young men in the closet for longer than they otherwise would be. So how do we fix this? Well, as an experiment, I plan to use my limited knowledge of HTML coding to make a website where anyone can chat anonymously with a member of our LGBTQ organization at school. I want to keep the website up for a few months and see what happens. Thoughts?
